Chapter : Sixteen

 Earth, Beam's father (Police General Nate Vongviphan), and Interpol Division Chief Noey Suparat gathered in the General's office.

 "So, Oh Jaturapoom,  find out about Beam disguises?"  Nate asked worried.

 Noey looked pale "Do we have to pull Beam?"  he asked Nate.

 Earth shook her head "No. Right now it's not the time. It looks like Oh Jaturapoom and Phana have other intentions"

 Noey and Nate looked at Earth confused.

 "They think with  Beam, they will benefit. They are trying to make Beam one of them," he explained.

 Nate and Noey fell silent.  Noey did not know what to do.  The biggest regret for him is if Beam sacrificed his life before they could capture the Jaturapoom family network.

 Nate sighed and leaned back in his chair "How's the situation?"  Nate asked, staring at Earth.

 Earth bit his lip when he looked at Nate's worried face "he's fine sir. You don't need to worry"

 Nate nodded and thought for a moment.  He knows how is Beam.  Even if he tells Beam to retreat at this time, Beam will carry out his own mission, quietly.

 "For now, we will first see the progress and keep an eye on Beam," Nate said, staring intently at Earth.  Earth nodded.

 "And the spy, find him. He might be our key to the Jamornhum family," Nate pleaded again, looking at Earth and Noey in turn.

 Earth and Noey nodded and said "yes sir" together.

 They talked about the strategy that had to be carried out before the General had to continue his agenda.

 "Do you have any idea who the spy is?"  Noey asked as they exited the general's room.

 Earth was silent.  He had thought of many possibilities even the worst possibilities he did not want to think about.  But he chose to shake his head.

 Noey sighed and patted the shoulders of Earth "I know it's not easy to suspect your friends," said Noey "Let me and First investigate this matter"

 Earth nodded in agreement.  He is not in the right position to judge his friends fairly, especially Lam.  So he considers his boss's decision to be the best.

 Lam looked at Earth with the corner of his eye.  Nowadays, Earth rarely talks to him.  Even when they were having dinner together like this, Earth said nothing.  Earth doesn't even eat the food that Lam cooks for him.

 "Does it taste so bad?"  Lam asked

 Earth raised his face and looked at Lam confused.

 "If it tastes so bad, Phi doesn't need to eat it," Lam said as he wanted to take the plate in front of Earth.  Earth hurriedly pulled the plate away from Lam.

 "No! It tast fantastic" answered Earth quickly.

 Lam looked at Earth and paused for a moment before returning to his seat.

 "Then did I make a mistake?"  Lam asked worriedly.  He tried to rethink what caused Earth not to talk to him.  

 Earth let out a long sigh as he looked at Lam's worried face.  Investigations about spies between their teams are already underway and it makes Earth even more nervous.  What he was afraid of was not knowing that Lam was a spy.  If Lam is a spy then he must have his reasons.  Earth wants to hear Lam's reasons and then let the law speak, and he will gracefully accept Lam in his life, Lam who is more open and honest.  The thing he was most afraid of now was knowing that Lam approached him in order to obtain information.  Knowing that Lam never loved him.  That all this is just a play.
