Mia's POV:

I'm not really sure what to think about Travis. There's so much I don't know and might not ever know because of the accident. So I walk away from the awkward situation with plans to meet tomorrow.

"Who was that?"

I could recognize that voice from anywhere, it was my roommate and best friend, Autumn. "I guess I knew him before... well you know. His name's Travis and he said we needed to talk so he's picking me up tomorrow at 6."

"Are you finally going on a official date?" She always bugged me about boys and how I should get out more, but I feel like maybe I'm not meant to meet someone. I just find the whole 'soulmate' logic really cliché.

"Oh no. No it's nothing like that. I made sure to tell him no funny business. Besides he's not really my type."

"Come on Mia." She sighed. "It could be good for you. Just give it a chance. It doesn't even have to be with him, I just want to see you happy."

"No thank you. An official date leads to more official dates, which leads to an official relationship. Relationships are too romantic and while other girls swoon at romance, I'm not really into it."

"I honestly don't understand you, but if you aren't gonna give it a shot then I will. I may have been a good distance away but even from that distance I could tell he was a sex god." A slight blush crept over her cheeks. Typical Autumn. This always happens when she sees a guy who is the slightest bit attractive.

"You go ahead. But as for me, I have Advanced Literature to ditch. I really do hate Ms. Herts."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"MIA I SWEAR TO GOD IF YOU DON'T BEHAVE ON THIS 'ANTI-DATE' I WILL KIDNAP YOU AND LEAVE YOU IN AN ABANDONED WAREHOUSE FOR A WEEK." Oh joy, my lovely roommate has returned.
"You know behave is a strong word."
"GET THAT SMIRK OFF YOUR FACE WOMAN. THE SASS IS NOT APPRECIATED AT THE MOMENT."
"Autumn calm down. I'll try my best to be nice. Besides it's not like I have to impress him. He obviously liked something about me because he was friends with me for years."
"That's true. KAY HAVE FUN MIA. LOVE YOU. DONT EMBARRASS YOURSELF TOO MUCH."
"Autumn stop yelling." I say laughing. She promised to stop until there was a knock on the door and she started back up like a motor.
"MIA HE'S HERE. YAY THIS IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING. I'M EXCITED FOR YOU." As you can probably tell, I don't go out with guys a lot. So when it happens Autumn kind of overreacts. I get the door and when I open it I'm shocked. He cleans up really well and I must say he looks good. "Oh my god..." Autumn breathes out. "I was right about him being a sex god."
Travis looked kind of uncomfortable after she said that so I poked his arm, motioning to go. He gets the hint but looks down at the floor. He looks a little sad but hey, I've just met this guy, I don't want to ask what's wrong.
"Follow me." He says and I do.
He leads me to his truck and opens the door for me. I find it extremely cliché and overrated but still feel a small smile creeping onto my face. He takes me to a local mall outlet and asks if I want something to eat or drink before we talk. I see a starbucks so I nod and walk towards it. I get the seat closest to the window because, well I don't know I like the window.
"Hello guys, how can I help you?" This waiter actually seems pretty nice, not many of my past waiters have been.
"Hi. I'll have a black coffee." Travis said. He doesn't strike me as the black coffee type but alright. "I'll have a vanilla bean frappe." She writes down our order and walks back behind the counter.
For the second time, Travis looks down at his hands. "Are you okay?" I ask in the nicest voice I could muster.
"Yeah I'm fine... It's just... well I don't know. You ordered the same thing you did in high school and you did the cute little thing where you poke my arm and yeah." Wait cute?
"How close were we?" I ask shyly.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Travis's POV:

"How close were we?"

Oh shit. I'm not ready for this conversation. If I say we dated she's going to ask why we broke up. Then I'll have to explain what happened and then she'll never talk to me again.

"We were just friends." I say awkwardly.

"Just friends." She repeats.

Well we dated for 3 years but other than that just friends.

A/N: The best thing I've done over break is go to town to get groceries and that is very sad.
