In a short moment, I made it to the office safely and headed straight towards the lobby. I greeted my colleagues who were on guard duty while walking towards the elevator to the top floor. This office was located in the prime real estate in Yokohama, smack dab in the middle. There were four other office buildings in the same scale. I gazed out of the glass walls, seeing the buildings in front of me become smaller and smaller. I pondered on why the boss had called me up that morning.

In reality, it wouldn't make any sense for the boss to call up a low-ranking member all the way to the office to just dispose of them. If he really just wanted to dispose of me, it'd be easier to hire an assassin at my doorstep - low cost, low effort. The boss was had a much more logical train of thought, as opposed to the previous boss. He'd rather prefer a more "eco-friendly" disposal.

The elevator doors opened, breaking me away from my own thoughts. I told the black-suited guard at the door my name, him responding by pointing at antique French door. In a last moment, I brushed off any dust on my outfit and cleared my throat. " Boss," I announced loudly," I'm coming in."

" Aw... Come on, Elise! Please where the dress, just a for a little bit?"

I stood my ground, pretending not to hear what I'd heard. " Boss, it's me, Oda. I'm coming in.," I repeated. I pretended to act like an unsuspecting subordinate who'd just walking in at the wrong moment. " Pardon my intrusion.," I called out, opening the doors of the office. The comments exchanged between the young girl and the boss were quite... disturbing. At one point, I felt like gagging to myself, yet I continued to stand with a blank stare.

" Boss.," I spoke, thinking to myself that it was enough to catch hist attention," I came here, just as you've told me to. What is it that you needed?" In the blink of an eye, the office windows were covered by shades and all that was left was a dark room with the mere candlelit light that was enough to show that boss's face. He looked up at the side for a moment, collecting his thoughts.

" Now."
" Yes, sir?"
" I called you for one reason and one reason only."
" Yes, sir."

" Oda," he paused, before actually telling me my assignment," Has anyone ever told you to speak up?" I answered," Yes, actually... many times." He continued," At any rate, you just got here. You saw nothing, isn't that right." " Yes, sir.," I replied," I did not witness you trying to dress a young girl and chasing her around to meet with me."

" Dazai once told me that 'Odasaku has no ulterior motives; so what you see is what you get. It may take some getting used to, but once you do, it's like a balm for the soul.' I kinda of get at what he's saying now." It was honestly the first time I've ever heard such a thing. However, this was Dazai we were talking about, he was probably talking out of his ass. There's no way a man like me in his twenties would be 'a balm for the soul'.

" Now, you must be wondering why I called you here.," he spoke, breaking the silence between us," I want you to find someone for me." " Find someone...?," I asked," Let me confirm a few points here. Assuming that you're giving me direct orders face-to-face, I'm guessing this is no ordinary person. Are you sure a lowly runt like me can handle it?" He smirked at me.

" Quite a valid question to ask," he said," However, there are two flaws in your question. One, I've heard a lot about what you do. I've heard about the work you do, and so I entrust you with this task specifically. Two, I've started to take note of our lower ranking members. As you know, (Y/N)'s impressed me beyond what I could've ever thought. She definitely surpassed my expectations, and why not try to take into account the actions of my other lower runt."

" Anyways, I digress," he raked his fingers through his bangs," We're missing our intelligence officer, Ango Sakaguchi." I didn't so much as twitch a finger, yet if you were to look inside of my head, I felt like I was running around in circles out of frustration. " You were able to keep calm I see," he smirked again," If you were to have any form of reaction, I wouldn't have given you this job, but you passed."
