"I can't believe we've made it through four months of school already. I feel like school just started two weeks ago," I say out loud sitting up side down in Daya's room with Zac and Ray.

"You're the only one who would bring up a topic like this in the middle of winter break Mare," Daya says and I shrug.

"It just crossed my mind, that's all,"

"Kids, come down stairs-" Mrs. Daniel says standing outside of Daya's door.

"Mother, we've talked about this... teenagers, not kids. Young adults now, no more talk of these long ago kids you speak of. Please," Daya teases her mom and we all laugh.

"Well sorry, daughter. I won't forget next time ma'am. Young adults if you can so kindly join me for lunch that would be grand," Mrs. Daniels teases with her pinky up and curtsy before leaving, I giggle at their nuisance.

"Daughter and mother, mother and daughter just the same," Zac nudges Daya. They've been going so strong and I can tell Daya is deep in love for the boy. They've grown beautifully together and I admire how well they balance out being a young couple in love but still responsible teens, spending time with family and friends. Daya doesn't call me anymore in tears because of a boy or how her relationship is failing and I'm happy for. Though the roles have seemed to switch up. Though I'm not the type of girl to cry over a boy and sob about it to my friend, I do call and rant in anger or displeasure about Drew. It seems to be happening a lot as of recently though.

Back in August when I saw that picture Alice posted on Twitter with Drew, a girl I never met before and some other friends, I asked him who the girl was and he told me that she was a new person in their group of friends that they met at the beginning of summer. She came from Greece and her name is Vanessa. She moved to Texas with her mom because her mom was offered a great surgeon job here, paid above her usual pay and it was a great change of scenery since her parents recently divorced. I honestly didn't want to know that much about her and I didn't like that he knew so much and so well about her either. But I wasn't going to be a worried and distrusting girlfriend, I decided to have faith in him and trust he knew not to get himself into any trouble.

Thanksgiving with his family was a silly one and very nontraditional. My family we like to cook together, laugh together, I get a sip of wine from my nana, Elise, she's an old friend of my grandparents on my father side and I adore her like she's another grandparent of mine, hence why I call her nana. Then we get full in the dinning room and play card games. Afterwards before everyone leaves we give gifts to each other because we all have families in different places and we may not be able to see each other the day of Christmas, we promise not to open them until Christmas but if one of us calls, saying all of our strength went out and we broke under pressure we open them and Skype or FaceTime.

Now we're nearing the end of January and I can't believe how fast everything's moving.

"Hey! Stop gazing into the future, it's time to meet Jade and Alexander at the cafe," Ray says taping my chin and I look at him.

"Okay, okay geez bossy pants," I stick my tongue out at him and he smiles, shaking his head.

"Get to moving," He pulls me up and out of the chair.

"See you later mama," I kiss her cheek as we all walk to the door.

"Later," She says to us all.

"Hello darling," Jade says hugging me tightly.

"Hello," I say as we all greet Jade and Alexander at the cafe.
