25. Disagreements

Sasuke's POV

After what happened to Menma, Naruto hasn't left us side since. He won't even let me watch him without being close by. I'm the one who got him back. I should be able to spend some time with my kid without him hovering over my shoulder like i'm irresponsible. I heard the doorbell ring. Naruto, with menma in his arm, looked out the window to see who it was. I heard the chain rattle and the door open.

A familiar voice. Must've been Shikamaru. I went downstairs to see and it was him alright. "Naruto." He said, looking at Menma. "oh, hey Shikamaru! I was just about to put the baby down for his nap. What do you need?" Tsk. I wish he would offer me to put him to sleep. "I was wondering if you wanted to grab some ramen. You've been stressed lately and I thought you might need a break" Naruto's face lit up, but he quickly frowned.

"I'm sorry.. I have to watch Menma.." he said, quietly. I walked over to him. Nows my chance to finally prove that i'm responsible, even though i shouldn't have to. I didn't like the idea of Shikamaru and Naruto going out by themselves, but if it meant Naruto would finally trust me enough to be alone with the baby, then I didn't mind it too much. "I can watch Menma. You deserve a break Naru." I said trying to lighten the mood with a slight smile.

"yeah but.. I-I don't know what if something bad happens and i'm not here?" he said as Menma played with his hair. "It'll be okay. I'm here. I can handle it." I spoke back, in a shaper manner. "I don't know, Sasuke.." he sighed. I felt a rush of anger fill my body. "Why don't you trust me with our kid. I have never let anything bad happen to this child." I glared at him, trying not to make a scene in front of our guest.

"You know what happened last time!.. I just don't think-.." i cut him off "That was your fucking fault! Not mine. Who got him back? Who risked their life just to bring back a child that he barely gets to spend some damn alone time with!" i slammed my fist into the wall as Naruto's big blue eyes filled with tears. "I-I.. I'm sorry!.. I'm sorry i couldn't say no to you! I can't make everyone happy all the time! I can't!" tears fell against his cold cheeks as Shikamaru glared at me.

"what the hell are you looking at." I snarled. "Don't talk to him like that. He was worried that's all. He's constantly worried." He started ranting. "His parents are dead for fuck sake. Menma is his only family le-.." "What about me? I'm part of his fucking family too, you know. My parents are dead, too. Nobody ever fucking thinks about me though!" I felt my fist pumping with blood. "Stop!.. s-stop.. please.." I looked back at the blonde who was now sobbing as he caressed Menma in his arms.

I didn't mean to make him..

..cry.

I took Menma from Naruto's arms and muttered a quick sorry before bringing him upstairs.

Naruto's POV

i sat there, weak in my own tears. How could he blame this all on me?.. h-how did this happen?.. things were starting to get better. I suddenly felt Shikamaru's large hands on my shoulder. "Come on. Now you really need a break. Let's talk about this over some pork ramen?" he smiled a bit as i wiped my tears. "yeah.. t-that sounds nice.."

As we walked to the local ramen shop, i felt a bit more calm. It was nice having a friend nearby when issues like this happened. I was so mad at Sasuke, but i understand how he feels. I wish he would have said it differently though. I clenched my fists then quickly unclenched them. If he wants some alone time with Menma then so be it. I looked over at Shikamaru. "Hey.. can i spend the night at your house?"
