Em's P.O.V.
Sophia let out a piercing scream as the massive brown wolf bared its teeth at us, a low growl rumbling from deep within its throat. The sound reverberated through the air, sending chills down my spine.
I stood there, paralyzed by a mix of terror and intrigue, my heart racing as adrenaline coursed through my veins.
"What on earth are you?!" I shouted at the colossal creature, my voice trembling despite my attempt to sound brave. The wolf's eyes glinted with an intelligence that was unsettling, and for a moment, I felt as if it could understand me.
To my astonishment, the wolf emitted a bizarre, almost mocking laugh, a sound that was both eerie and surreal. It was as if the creature found amusement in our fear, and that realization sent a wave of dread crashing over me.
Sophia and I exchanged bewildered glances, our confusion deepening as we tried to comprehend the impossible situation unfolding before us.
Just as the wolf's laughter faded, it lunged toward us with alarming speed, its powerful muscles propelling it forward like a bolt of lightning. I yanked Sophia along as we sprinted, our feet pounding against the ground, but the wolf was relentless, knowing it can close the distance in an instant.
Panic surged through me, and I braced myself for impact when suddenly, a huge midnight black wolf burst through the trees in front of us and jumped over our heads.
It collided with the brown wolf and sending it crashing to the ground. The unexpected turn of events left me momentarily stunned as we collapsed to our knees not knowing where to turn.
What in the world is happening? I wondered in disbelief, my mind racing to process the chaos unfolding before my eyes.
The two wolves wrestled fiercely, their bodies entwined in a violent dance of fur and teeth. The sound of growls and snarls filled the air, a primal symphony of nature's brutality. Despite being smaller, the brown wolf held its ground, evading bites with surprising agility, its instincts kicking in as it fought for survival.
Then, out of nowhere, a grayish wolf crept up behind the brown one, its movements stealthy and calculated. In a swift, brutal motion, it sank its teeth into the brown wolf's neck, shaking violently as if trying to assert its dominance. The brown wolf let out a pained yelp, but it was too late.
We were so terrified yet captivated that we didn't realize the other man had bolted until both the black wolf and the grayish one began to approach us with deliberate slowness.
"Oh my god! We're going to die," Sophia exclaimed, more in disbelief than inquiry.
We cautiously retreated, and I instinctively positioned myself in front of Sophia, ready to shield her.
"Shoo, wolf! Leave us alone!" I declared, attempting to project more bravado than I truly felt.
As my eyes locked onto the black wolf's gaze, a wave of recognition washed over me; those eyes were a perfect reflection of Jackson's. The intensity of that gaze sent a shiver down my spine, and I felt an inexplicable connection, as if the very essence of Jackson was woven into the fabric of the creature before me.
I stood frozen, and suddenly, everything clicked into place. The way the black wolf moved, the subtle tilt of its head, the way it seemed to understand me—it was all Jackson. The gray wolf beside him, with its striking silver fur and piercing eyes, was unmistakably Edward. The realization hit me like a bolt of lightning, electrifying the air around us.
I turned to Sophia, urgency lacing my words. "Soph, those wolves are Jackson and Edward." My heart raced as I spoke, the weight of the revelation pressing down on me.
