Em's P.O.V.
After Samantha insisted we visit the mall, we explored every store without exception, diving into the vibrant atmosphere filled with laughter, chatter, and the occasional sound of a cash register ringing. The mall was bustling with energy, and so many more expensive shops then the mall we used to go to.
As we wandered from one store to another, we discovered quite a bit about Samantha. She recently celebrated her 18th birthday just a month prior, marking a significant milestone in her life. This newfound freedom seemed to radiate from her, as she navigated the mall with a sense of confidence and excitement. She is Michael's mate, a bond that carried weight and significance in their world. She a daughter of an Alpha which I could see how that might come with its own set of expectations and responsibilities like a Pastor's kid.
Samantha and Michael first crossed paths in August during an 'All Around the World Pack Meeting,' a gathering that brought together wolves from various packs to share stories, traditions, and, of course, to forge connections.
As we continued our shopping spree, we shared a few snippets about ourselves, but kept it brief, not wanting to delve too deeply into personal histories just yet. For instance, we mentioned that Sophia's mom works as a flight attendant, which often leaves Sophia with plenty of time to herself when her mom is away on trips. I chimed in, sharing that my own mom is a consultant, which means she's often busy traveling for work, too.
Seriously? So you both end up spending a lot of time on your own?" Samantha asked, her eyes wide with curiosity. There was a hint of empathy in her voice, as if she understood the feeling of solitude that sometimes accompanied our busy lives.
"Yeah, it can get a bit lonely," Sophia admitted, glancing at me with a knowing smile. "But we make the most of it, right?"
"Absolutely," I replied, feeling a sense of camaraderie with both of them. "We've learned to enjoy each other's company. We are more like sisters than friends." I said nudging Soph's arm playfully.
Samantha nodded, her expression thoughtful. "I get that. Being the Alpha's daughter comes with its own challenges, and sometimes it feels like I'm under a microscope. But I've always valued my friendships, and I'm glad I now have you both"
Sami's eyes sparkled with excitement. "We absolutely need to have a slumber party!" she exclaimed.
"Absolutely!" Soph and I chimed in unison, our own excitement mirroring hers. The thought of a slumber party filled with laughter, snacks, and late-night stories was just too enticing to resist, and really needed now. We could already envision the cozy blankets, the flickering glow of fairy lights, and the endless chatter that would stretch into the early hours of the morning.
Just then, a guard approached us, his expression serious and his posture rigid. "Um, Samantha. The Alpha, Beta, and Third in Command need you all back immediately," he said, his voice low and urgent.
Sami raised an eyebrow, her excitement momentarily dimmed. "Alright, we'll be there in just a minute," she replied, trying to maintain her cheerful demeanor despite the sudden interruption.
The guard shifted nervously, glancing around as if he were expecting someone to pop up out of nowhere. "No, Samantha. They want you back NOW," he insisted, his tone leaving no room for argument.
Sami sighed, her shoulders slumping slightly. "Fine, fine," she replied, a hint of frustration creeping into her voice.
