6: No mistakes

When I finally started getting my consciousness back, I knew there were three people in the room and were fighting.

I heard Harvey say 'What were you thinking? Don't you think if she was here I would've known.'

The other person who's voice I couldn't recognise was apologising continuously.

'Harvey let it go now, it was an honest mistake, okay?' Caleb said.

'Yes, mistakes, I don't want them and specially if they're involving Clary now.' Harvey replies angrily.

'Everybody knows exactly what you want.' Caleb says in a low voice.

'What is that supposed to mean?'

'Are you so desperate to get laid that you'll risk everything?' Caleb said. I have never heard Caleb this angry.

'There's so much wrong in that sentence, I'm gonna pretend I didn't even hear it. For now, just get out, Clary could wake up any minute.' Harvey says.

I heard the door open and shut. The third guy and Caleb probably left.

I had woken up fully some time back but I wanted to hear what they were talking about so I didn't open my eyes, not that I understood anything at all.

I opened my eyes and sat up straight, Harvey came and sat beside.

"Hey, are you okay?" He asks me, concern written all over his face.

"Yeah I guess. What happened?"

"You fainted. You must not be eating enough, Clary."

"But it doesn't..." Harvey cut me off.

"You probably felt dizzy, vision started to blur and sudden pain in your stomach."

"In my back but..."Harvey cut me off again.

"But the point is that your not eating enough to stay healthy. I'm seriously mad at you right now. If I didn't come up here in time then we don't know..." This time I interrupted before he started imagining all the worst possibilities.

"But you did and I'm sorry but I thought I was eating just fine."

"Your just fine is not enough. You know what, from now on I'm making sure you eat properly and stay healthy. As for tonight, you're staying here."

Harvey bought us dinner in the room, we ate while watching a movie. I changed into one of Harvey's shirt and we went to sleep.

I was on the bed and Harvey said that he would take the couch.

At around 2 am, Harvey's phone went off. He got up quickly picked up the phone, he checked to see if I was awake and once again I pretended to sleep.

I know it's wrong to eavesdrop and this is the second time in the same day that I'm doing it but curiosity got the best of me.

"What is it?" He asks tired to the other person on the line.

"I already said no. You are so eager to do what you'd prefer but it's time to face the truth, don't you think? This is not about what you want to do, it is about what must be done. You get it?" Harvey started getting angry.

"I've given you your assignment, now carry it out."

"I know that and I'm sorry but I can't have you mess this up."

This? What the hell is Harvey upto? I decide to ask him, what this call is about because I'm already assuming the worst.

"Yeah okay. Bye." Harvey finally ends the call.

"What was that about?" I ask sitting up straight.

Harvey turns around when he hears my voice. He looked panicked for a second but came back to normal quickly.

"Oh that? Actually this guy at the university stole something from Caleb, he thinks we should just steal it back but I think we can confront him, I bet he'll give it to me."

"What thing?"

"His phone." He said quickly.

"What? Why would someone steal..."

"I don't know, okay? You ask way too many questions, Clary. Go back to sleep now."

In the morning after Harvey had forced me to eat breakfast, Caleb came over.

"Hey Caleb." I smile at him looking away from the TV screen.

"Is that..." He starts asking looking at me.

"My shirt? Yeah. She stayed over last night." Harvey answered.

"You did? Oh." Caleb had a blank look on his face as he sat down to my other side.

"You feeling better now?" He asks me.

"Oh yeah, much better."

"Let's go somewhere tomorrow after classes, if you're up for it, Clary?" Harvey asks me.

"Sure." I say.

"Great."
