When we sit he says "So do you want to tell me about it?" why not,

"Well let's see, I spilled water on my keyboard, and now it's not working, broke my favorite mug, lost my Airpods oh let's not forget falling in the bathroom. I'll probably have a nasty bruise by tomorrow." I finish

"Wow, that sounds like shit," he says as I start to eat my ice cream, it's so good, and I involuntarily moan, when I realize I've done that I look at him and he's staring at me.

"Want some?"

He shakes his head, "Fuck no, vanilla remember?"

"You're such a snob. It's still superior to your flavor of choice."

"I think we'll have to agree to disagree on that one."

I roll my eyes, a habit that has seemed to be enhanced around him. I finish up my ice cream and toss it in the bin.

"Thanks for this, I really needed it with the way the day was. I appreciate it" my cheeks flush, I can't seem to be able to control my emotions around him.

"You're welcome, I mean it's the least I could do." I feel like there's a double meaning to his words, is he thinking about the kiss too? I guess I'll never know; I'm about to reply when his phone rings. I know who it is before he says "It's Cami" great it's like every time I decide I may want to let my guard down with him, she reminds me that she's in the picture. I gesture for him to go ahead, while I fiddle with my hands, I try my best not to listen in on their conversation, but I'm a nosy one.

"Sorry about that," he says

"You don't have to apologize, I mean she's your girlfriend, I wouldn't expect you not to answer."

"Oh no, we're not dating."

"Oh?" I mean, that's what I wanted to hear, right?

"More like casually seeing each other." So they're just fucking then, I don't know why that makes me even more jealous than them dating.

"I see," he turns the tables on me.

"Yeah, what about you, seeing anyone" I mean, if I were, I wouldn't have kissed him back.

"Nope, not at all."

"How come?" Where is he going with this?

"I guess I just haven't met anyone who I can connect with like that," except you, of course.

"Fair enough," I change the subject. "We get our scores Thursday. We better get an A for all that effort."

"Agreed, ours was better than everyone else's just saying"

"You're very sure of yourself, aren't you?"

"Always!" he says cockily and gives me that smile that is making it hard for me not to fall for him.

"Cocky much?"

"Just the right amount."

"You're honestly impossible," I say as I get up, it's starting to get a bit chilly and I'm only in a hoodie, I need my bed.

"We should probably head back," he says, and I agree, we walk back to the car in silence. My mind weighing the pros and cons of knowing him and Cami are casual, he opens the door for me, and I hop in. "So, do you want to do the gym tomorrow instead?" I suggest

"That works for me, I have class in the evening so do you want to meet during the day?"

"Yeah, that should be doable."

We make it back to my flat, and I say "I know I've already said it but thank you again, you made my day a tad brighter." He pulls me into a hug and I feel at peace, yeah my common sense seems to be flying out of the window when it comes to him.
