The more time passed, the more anxious I was for Niall to return home.
Two weeks. He would be here in two weeks.
I was cleared by Dr. Craton at my session last week to go with him on tour after Christmas. He agreed that it might be good for me as long as I keep in touch with him and do a video session at least once a week. He seemed a little hesitant at first, but I think we both knew being with Niall full time would have more of a positive affect on me than anything else.
The day after that session, I went to work and gave Anna my two weeks notice. Although, I told her I would like to work up to the day before Niall comes home, so it was technically three weeks. I needed to stay busy until then. I was sad to be leaving, but I honestly couldn't wait for this next chapter of my life with Niall. Our life.
It was currently Thanksgiving Day. Stacy and Dan were out of town visiting family and Harry was spending the holiday with Liz and her family. Liz invited me along as well, insisting that I didn't need to spend Thanksgiving alone and that I was part of her family anyway. I had already made plans, though.
Since this was an American holiday, Louis and Liam didn't have anything planned so I invited them over for our own little Thanksgiving feast. They were currently in the kitchen attempting to help me cook. It's been a while since I've cooked a big meal like this so I was a little rusty, but the guys really seemed to be struggling even more than I was.
"How am I supposed to add a cup of butter when it's in a solid stick form? How do I know how much is a cup?" Louis whined.
"There are literally measurements on the--Oh, forget it. Go stir the potatoes, I'll finish this." I said, swatting him away from the casserole.
"The turkey isn't done yet. What else do you need me to do?" Liam asked, approaching me from behind.
"Can you put the rolls in the oven?" I asked, glancing over my shoulder at him. "I'm almost done with this casserole, then we can put it in the oven, too."
"This seems like a lot of work. Why do Americans do this? Why not just order the food?" Louis asked.
I laughed. "Some families do. Mine always made everything from scratch."
"I'm sure it'll be great. It smells amazing." Liam smiled.
I finished preparing the casserole and placed it in the oven with the rolls, dressing and turkey. I always wondered why Niall had a kitchen with two ovens but I was grateful for it right now. I bumped Louis out of the way again, checking on the boiling potatoes. Once they were finished, I drained the water and taught the guys how to make mashed potatoes. It wasn't long before the rest of the food was finally ready, so we spread everything out on the table and dug in.
"Everything is really great. Thanks for this!" Liam complemented.
"You're welcome. I did pretty well, didn't I?" Louis said confidently, taking a bite of food.
I rolled my eyes. "Have you ever cooked before today, Louis?"
"Definitely not." Liam replied.
"Hey! Yes, I have!" He defended.
"Cereal doesn't count." Liam snickered.
I shook my head in amusement. "Thanks for the help, guys. You can tell people you know how to cook now." I laughed.
We ate and drank until we were ridiculously full, leaving the pie sitting on the countertop. We figured we could save that for later after our food digested a little more. We had all eaten way too much to have a slice now. I put away the leftovers, then the three of us made our way to the living room, each with a glass of wine. We left the bottle sitting on the coffee table in the middle of all of us and Louis helped himself to it multiple times as we talked and laughed.
