When Mercedes Mauricio, a successful interior designer is left by her multi-millionaire fiancé weeks before their wedding day, she is left hurt, embarrassed and disgusted by love. After being ridiculed by tabloids and social media, she decides to sh...
For the past weeks, I have been begging Ryan to assign someone else to this project, but considering my short time back at work, his exact words were 'beggars can't be choosers.' So in simpler terms, I was stuck working with Trey's house. I glanced at my phone's clock, which read 7:00 a.m., and placed it back to my ear. I drove to the front gate and pressed the intercom. "Name please." I shuffled my phone to the other ear. "Ummm...Good morning, my name is Mercedes Mauricio and— "Hold on a sec." The person said, cutting me off. How rude! I hear shuffling noises for about 15 seconds. 'Okay, come in ma'am."With that a buzzing sound could be heard and the gate opened. "Woah," I stared in awe, this mansion placed the house, Kenny and I shared to shame. The mansion's exterior was draped in a neutral palette with an accent of red chestnut wood stored at the roof. The mansion featured a lot of topsfield windows which added more definition.

"What?"I heard Mo say on the phone. "This house," I unbuckled my seat belt and slid open the car door. I stepped outside of the car and fixed my skirt. "Alright, I just arrived at his house so I'm gonna have to call you back." "Okay, call me as soon as you get off work, hoe," Mo requested. " And...oh wait !... tell Trey sexy ass I said heyy." I chuckled before ending the call and slid my phone into my purse and walked towards the front door. I stepped in and noticed my team was already inside, familiarizing themselves with the architect of the house. "Good morning," I smiled to the workers as I found an area to lay my bag and work materials. The inside of the house was merely empty with the exception of a few miscellaneous items lying around. I walked around the 9-bedroom mansion with a notepad in hand, making note of any paint colors, furniture or art I wanted to add. Each of the rooms offered a 180-degree view of the infinity pool and terrace, which could be overlooked from their balconies. Painted walls plastered a color of fainted cream, there was a bathroom in each of the rooms: 4 half-bathrooms, two upstairs and the other two in the lower-level and basement . Construction was still going on, even though Ryan mentioned it would be completed by the time we arrived. I made a mental note to ask him about that. "Come check this out," Persia interrupted, motioning to me to join her as we toured the house a second time, this time eyeing it for more complex details. Apart from the bedrooms and bathrooms, there was a gym, gaming room and a pathway on the lower level to the guest house. How on earth was I going to finish all of this in nine months ? I thought as I stepped over unused materials that were scattered on the floor. We went downstairs where Trey's studio was located along with his gaming room. Why did a grown ass man need a gaming room ?Lord, only knows. Hopefully, my team and I would be able to complete this project by the deadline. The last thing I needed was for Ryan to think I lost my touch. "Ok, everyone listen up !" I shouted once I got to the center of the house. Many who were chattering or bringing in items, stopped at once. "I know it's been a while since we all worked on a project together and I just wanna say thank you all for partnering up with me once more on this project. It's been a while since we had a project of this magnitude." Alot of 'yea' and 'tell me about it' sounded off across the house. "But we got this," I encouraged, "Let's show out and show 'em how it's done dream team, we got this !" A roar of applause rained around and I walked off. The whole morning I felt antsy, thinking Trey would walk in any moment but judging by the look of it, he was not here and for that I was grateful, I didn't need the distraction. I was trying to bottle down the little crush I had on him and him being in my vicinity was not gonna help that. Hours went by and I didn't notice it was almost 6 pm. I was caught up looking at pantones when I noticed members of my team heading out. "Alright, I'm heading out," Persia said, grabbing her coat. "I didn't even notice the time," I yawned. "Yea, today definitely flew by....Do you need a ride?" "No, that's ok," I said, throwing my hair in a bun, "I drove." "Kk, sounds good... good night," Persia said, closing the front door. I replied 'good night' before I finally unpacked what was supposed to be my lunch. "Hmmhmm," I moaned as the savory taste of thai shrimp fritter danced on my tastebuds. I grabbed my takeout box and chopstick and did a final sweep of the house, picking up any leftover material that might've been left back. I took the stairs to the second level and was closing a lid when I stumbled across Trey's awards and platinum records that were plastered on the wall. I read the imprints of the awards, some reading "Best male R&B male artist, others "Album of the year' and "Top R&B song." Many were from BET, billboard and other notable networks. I was so caught up looking at the trophies. I didn't even realize someone was behind. "Oh, I didn't even see you there." I said almost dropping my plate of food. "I was just leaving,"
