Scarletpaw dreamed of Gingerpaw chasing after her, yowling incomprehensible words, then Gingerpaw transformed into Sunflower, who said, 'You are a traitor and you deserve to die." Scarletpaw yowled, and she felt herself falling and flailing.
"Oi! Watch it!" A voice hissed. Scarletpaw opened one eye, and found Cloudypaw rubbing her nose. "You just clawed me across my nose!" She mewed. Scarletpaw took in her surroundings as her eyes adjusted to the light. Rustpaw was sleeping close to his brother, but Smokepaw had already left. Brownpaw was curled up tightly, sleeping calmly.
Scarletpaw's eyes widened. "I'm sorry, Cloudypaw! I had a bad dream."
"Hmph," Cloudypaw stalked towards the entrance, probably going to Palewing.
"It's okay, Scarletpaw," another voice meowed. Scarletpaw didn't even have to turn to recognize Brownpaw's voice. "I get nightmares too."
Scarletpaw turned. "Really?"
Brownpaw nodded. "Yes, every cat has them. One time I dreamed about..." he trailed off, looking distraught.
"Are you okay?" Scarletpaw asked. Brownpaw nodded absently, then he curled up again, bury8ng his nose in his tail.
"How was living with the rogues?" Scarletpaw asked curiously.
"To be honest, it was terrifying. The leaders of our group were called Timber, Sun and Jo. Timber is like a huge brown tabby, Sun is a golden cat, and Jo is black and white. She is Mother's sister," he added. "But she was horrible to us. Sun was probably the nicest, sometimes they give the kits and elders food. Usually we need to hunt by ourselves."
"Your group sounds very harsh," Scarletpaw observed.
Brownpaw scoffed. "It's very harsh: in leaf-bare we-"
Unfortunately for Scarletpaw, she never got to know what Brownpaw's group of rogues did in leaf-bare, because just then Gingerpaw poked his head in the den. His eyes narrowed inexplicably as he took in the scene.
"Have you two seen Rosepaw?" He asked.
Brownpaw shook his head. "What happened?"
"Shorttail said something... uh, bad about a cat, and she got all offended and stormed away." Gingerpaw explained. "I thought she would come to the den, because well..." There was pity in Gingerpaw's voice... but there was something else. Anger?
"She's not here, sorry." Scarletpaw meowed.
Gingerpaw nodded, then withdrew his head.
"What haplend?" Rustpaw yawned.
"Rosepaw is missing," Brownpaw explained.
"Really?" Rainpaw woke up too. Then his eyes widened. "Why are you two cuddling together?"
"What?!?" Scarletpaw and Brownpaw jumped apart.
"Oh, don't tell me that you like her, Brownpaw!" Rustpaw joked. Brownpaw swiped a paw at the ginger apprentice, bowling him over, and Rustpaw retaliated by kicking Brownpaw away, sending him crashing into Scarletpaw.
"Oh, not again!" Scarletpaw laughed, and pushed Brownpaw away. The laugher was interrupted by a yowl. At once, the apprentices hurried outside their den, where Rosepaw was, panting.
"Rosepaw! Gingerpaw was looking for you!" Scarletpaw called out, but stopped when she saw a gash on her sister's flank.
"The rogues are attacking!" Rosepaw gasped out. Wishingstar immediately came out his den, Shimmerfire beside him. "I heard. Defend the camp." He meowed loudly, and the queens and elders started towards the nursery. A pregnant queen, Honeyfur, went in last. The rest of the warriors lined up, and Palewing hurried towards Rosepaw, supporting her to the medicine den.
"They are here!" Gingerpaw shot through the gorse tunnel.
Every cat braced theirselves for the attack.
But it never came.
Instead, a brown cat strutted through the tunnel. He looked familiar, but Scarletpaw couldn't place her paw on the thought.
"Hello, Wishingstar," he meowed calmly.
Wishingstar and the other warriors were gaping at the rogue. Scarletpaw saw that furs began to bristle even more, and there were snarls of 'traitor!' and 'foxheart!" among the cats.
But it was Sunflower who choked out the rogue's name. "Timberfur!"
Scarletpaw's mind whirled. This cat was the one that murdered her father and his own brother. This cat messed up the Clan and her family. She felt rage surging into her paws, but the brown tabby opened his mouth.
"Yes, Sunflower, it is me. Aren't you happy to see me?" His voice was filled with venom and sarcasm. He turned to Wishingstar. "Oh, Wishingstar. You never thought that I was a traitor, hm? It was only Brownclaw, my own brother, who thought that."
"Traitor," Wishingstar hissed.
Timberfur laughed a bitter laugh. "And he went and messed up my chances for leader. The perfect Timberfur, exiled by the dumb and oh so loyal Brownclaw."
"Get out of here, Timberfur. You don't belong here anymore." Shimmerfire spat, his silver fur bristling.
"No, thank you." Timberfur silenced the deputy with a flick of his tail. "I'm here to conquer, and to take back what was mine."
'What was yours? You do not own anything here!" Slightstep yowled from the back.
"No, I believe you are wrong." Dot mewed quietly, stepping forward, to general astonishment.
"Perfect," Timberfur smirked. "And young Brownpaw?"
"What do I have to do with you?" He snarled, but suddenly realization crept upon his face.
"Hello, son." Timberfur's smirk grew wider. "I am most hurt that they named you Brownpaw, just like my late brother."
"I'm not your son!" Brownpaw yowled, springing at his father, but was held back by Rainpaw.
"Go away, Timberfur." Wishingstar meowed coldly. "Or we attack."
Timberfur shrugged. "I'm not going away. I want to tear you by limb by limb, and I'll become the new leader of ThunderClan! Attack!" He flicked his tail, and a patrol of rogues streamed out of the gorse. Timberfur sprang at Wishingstar, and Scarletpaw was flung away from the other apprentices by the same grey cat that had attacked her in the first battle.
"You again!" Scarletpaw snarled. She clawed at her enemy, but she was flattened again. Tactics, she thought, her mind whirling around the battle techniques Shimmerfire taught her. Suddenly, a thought came to her.
Drawing her legs back, she pushed at the rogue, and suddenly, they flipped over. Now it was Scarletpaw on top of the rogue, and she sank her claws into its flesh, making the cat yowl.
"Run away," she hissed into the rogue's ear. It tore itself free and ran into the gorse.
Panting, Scarletpaw looked around. Dot was battling with another she-cat exactly like her, and Dot hissed as the she-cat swiped at her ear. "You little traitor, Dot!" The cat screeched.
"I earned this place in the forest, sister. You didn't earn it. Now die." Dot growled back, and sunk her teeth into the other she-cat's neck. Her struggles grew weaker, and finally she collapsed. "She-she's dead," Dot stammered, grief flashing in her eyes. Shaking her head, she then sprung to help Brownpaw, who was battling another she-cat twice his size. Brownpaw and his mother swiped at the cat, sending him off into the gorse tunnel. Brownpaw sprang to his paws and raced out of the camp, probably chasing the rogue. Scarletpaw was about to yowl for him to stop, but she heard a screech. Looking around, and saw Wishingstar preparing to spring at Timberfur. He clawed at his opponent, but Timberfur was quicker than Wishingstar. He pounced forward, and bit the ThunderClan leader at the neck. Wishingstar collapsed, and Timberfur let out a yowl of triumph.
"No!" Palewing, who was rushing from cat to cat, giving them herbs and cobwebs, yowled. She sprung forward, but Scarletpaw reached the tabby first. Casting a look at the unconscious cat, she sprung at Timberfur. Rage surged into her paws again, and Scarletpaw struck.
Timberfur was taken aback by such a tiny cat attacking him, he stumbled. Blind with rage, Scarletpaw shredded his fur. She could not allow Timberfur to kill another cat again.
Suddenly, Timberfur reared back and clawed at Scarletpaw's neck. She felt a blinding pain, and collapsed.
"Oh, how fun it is, spilling the blood of my brother," Timberfur gloated. He came in for the last strike... but...
"STOP!" A voice yowled. It was Brownpaw.Sorry I've been reading too much Starkit's Prophecy so you might find errors
