Chapter 25- Rosepaw

Rosepaw was still shocked after the confrontation with Gingertail and Scarletpaw that she barely paid any attention to where she was going, colliding with the dawn patrol in the gorse tunnel.
Wham!
"Great StarClan, Rosepaw!" Frondshade exclaimed. "Did you succeed on your herb-finding quest?"
Guilt lapped at Rosepaw as if she was standing in a small pool of water. "Er, actually, about that, I kind of got lost, and Gingertail was about to call a search party when he ran into Scarletpaw." She glanced at Scarletpaw and Gingertail for moral support.
"Yes, she had me worried out of my wits," Gingertail nodded absently.
"Yeah, I was furious." Scarletpaw chimed in.
Frondshade's whiskers twitched with amusement. "So that was the reason behind all that yowling."
Scarletpaw's ears flattened, and Rosepaw felt a rush of sympathy.
"Anyways, we have borders to patrol. Catch you later!" Frondshade flicked her tabby tail, and her, Cloudyfur, Fishtail and Rustpaw streaked out of the tunnel.
"Rustpaw looks very happy to be on patrol with Cloudyfur," Gingertail remarked. For a cat who had gone through an emotionally traumatizing night, she looked fine.
"Really happy," Rosepaw agreed.
"I need to sleep, I haven't closed my eyes since last dawn," Scarletpaw meowed, stifling a yawn. She trudged towards her den.
"I'll explain to Shimmerfire," Gingertail called after her. She flicked her tail before disappearing in the den.
"Aren't you bitter?" Rosepaw cast a questioning look at the ginger tom.
"Of course, I'm surprised, shocked and let down, but I can't let that affect my everyday duties, huh?" Gingertail glanced at Rosepaw.
"You hold well under stress," Rosepaw purred. "You will be an awesome warrior, even maybe deputy."
Gingertail scoffed. "Wishingstar wouldn't choose me even if I forced him to."
"But Shimmerfire would," Rosepaw shot back.
"Maybe, but I would need to have an apprentice," Gingertail admitted.
Rosepaw's eyes lit up. "Oh, I have a plan." Her mind was bursting with info.
Gingertail looked at her. "What?"
"Not now, when Scarletpaw awakes." Rosepaw meowed. "I should go to Palewing, she would have my fur off if I don't show up."
"Go, let's talk later." Gingertail promised. Rosepaw nodded wearily, and padded away from the main clearing and into the gorse tunnel.
Palewing was waiting for her, her pale blue eyes blazing with fury.
"Where were you, Rosepaw?"
