Gordon had the police out en masse last night. They were slaughtered.
I left the Manor on Asahi, and rode like death was chasing me. I knew that Father was somewhere in South Gotham, so I headed that way.
I had to work my way through riots, fires, and gunshots. As I rode, it seemed as though all of Gotham was burning. Smoke choked my throat and my eyes sting. At one point, a mob tried to pull me off of Asahi, but I was able to use a Shock Pulse to mildly electrocute everyone in a ten foot radius. I was able to escape.
By the time I made it to South Gotham, night had fallen. Gordon had his police units out.
I have fought in many battles that have many faces. But I can truly say that last night was no battle, it was a massacre.
The riots fell on the police and tore them apart. No mercy was to be found. So many officers died last night. Not enough remain now to quell the crowds.
As near as Father and I can tell, the Meringio family had infiltrated every level of Gotham's society. From the homeless in the lower East Side, to the secretary to the CEO of NorTech Developments in the Financial District, the Meringio family had gotten to everyone.
They used their spies to stir up resentment and frustration, which exploded when the news of the death of Kat Ginger broke.
I finally managed to find Father last night. He was upset with me for coming back out, but he said this to me:
"If you choose to be out in this, then I need you to accept orders. Grayson is over in West Gotham by the Keystone Hotel. Mobs are trying to tear down the 22nd Street Bridge. He needs you."
I rode back to the West Side, all the while giving thanks that Asahi can run for forever.
I turned a corner, and that was when I saw him.
The Joker.
He stood dead in front of me, pointing a pistol at my head.
"Well, well, well, look who's come out to play. Little Bird got separated from Daddy Bats, now didn't he? That's too bad. Guess I'm gonna hafta kill you."
He pulled the trigger, and I dove off of Asahi. The bullet whizzed past, and I threw myself at the madman. Joker hit the pavement with a crack of bones. He didn't even scream, he just began laughing maniacally.
"That's all you can do, Little Bird?! That's all you can do?!"
I was getting ready to kick his skull in, when someone grabbed me from behind. I began to fight back, but I heard a familiar voice. Grayson had stopped me just in time.
He used his grappling gun to pull down into the next street.
"What are you doing!" I screamed at him. "I had him! He could be dead by now!"
Grayson turned to me and said in the most serious voice I have ever heard from him, "Exactly. He could be dead. You could have killed him. I know that he is a menace. But we will NOT kill him."
I tried to start walking towards the 22nd street bridge, but Grayson stopped me.
"22nd is gone, Robin."
We managed to find Asahi, miraculously unharmed. Grayson told me to go up to North Gotham, and evaluate the situation. He said that we haven't been up there in hours, since the situation in lower Gotham is so horrific.
Everything after North Gotham is a haze. I remember Scarecrow gassing me with Fear Toxin, and having to come back home to get an antidote. That's why I'm writing this now. I had to take an hour to recover, even though I should be off duty for 24 hours. I can't stop though. Gotham is disintegrating. Batman, Robin, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Red Robin have to stop this.
My hour is up. Asahi must rest, so I'm grabbing Hakuhime, and together we'll try and save this city.
That is all.
