Chapter 15

Riley's POV

It was New Year's Eve and I was on plane with Abby, Maddy, and Mia. We're heading to Washington for the big game tomorrow. I'll admit, I'm a little nervous to see Jonathan. We really haven't talked much since the party, he's been busy with hockey and I've been occupied with my dad. We texted but that's been about it. I just don't want it to be awkward.

"So where did you and Jonny disappear to, the other day?" Mia asks taking out her ear buds

She was the only one sitting next to me, since we were riding in coach. Perks of having a hockey player as an uncle

"Oh nowhere, we just went somewhere to talk."

"You mean 'to talk' I see."

"Mia, we're just friends. We've been through this." I laugh

"But you want to be more than just friends, don't you?" She smirks

"Like I said, we're just friends."

"Oh come on Riley cut the crap. I know that you like him!" Mia yells, earning some stares from the other passengers

I laugh as she ducts down, a little embarrassed

"I see the way, you look at him." she whispers

"So what does that have to do with anything?"

"Everything! You like him!"

It's silent for a minute before I say

"So what if I like him! Like I said it doesn't matter, he only sees me as a friend."

"How do you know? You never know if you don't try."

"Trust me I know! And besides even if he did like me, it wouldn't work out, we're already too good of friends, it would ruin our friendship."

"So your saying if Jonathan did like you, it wouldn't matter because it would risk your friendship?" Mia questions

"Yup." I say grabbing my ear buds

"So your just not going to tell him how you feel, and hope that you move on?"

"Pretty much."

It's silent for minute, as Mia sits back in her seat, trying to take it all in.

Looks like I won this battle I smirk to myself , right as Mia sits back up

Oh no I think

"But you know the heart wants what it wants." Mia smirks

I roll my eyes at her, placing one ear bud in my ear

"You know she's right." Abby says in the seat across from us, flipping through some magazine

I roll my eyes at both of them this time, placing the other ear bud in my ear just as

"But the heart wants what it wants"

Blasts through the speakers

"Ugh." I groan closing my eyes

We finally made it to the hotel after a long flight. Mia was bunking with us since there was just Abby, Maddy, and I.

"We're gonna go and explore the hotel." I call out to Abby

Opening the door

"Alright, just stay out if trouble!" Abby tells us

"Yeah yeah, we will!" I chuckle

Shutting the door

The guys were at practice and wouldn't be back for at least a half an hour so we had some time to kill
