Her large liquid brown eyes held such an intelligence and serenity that it was impossible for me not to be held prisoner by them. Her cheekbones weren't especially high and her nose was a little too long to be perfect, but there was undeniable symmetry to her features and perhaps that's what held me so captivated. Her long grey inked hair was long and fluid, lying gently over her shoulder bones, kissing her soft skin.

"Jo," she addressed me in her usual royal tone.

I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her closer to me.

"Where's the child?" She asked.

I kissed her sweet lips instead of answering her question. She pushed herself from my grip and asked again, more seriously, "Where's he, Jo?"

"He's in the Earth land with Edward," I said, placing a light kiss on her cheek.

Several tears poured down through her beautiful eyes. I wiped them and cupped her face from my palms. "Hey, beautiful, he's safe."

She placed her head on my chest and I heard her sobbing. "We are sinners, Jo," she said.

"We aren't sinners. We love each other. Falling in love is not a sin," I said, losing my arms around her.

She raised her head to keep eye contact with me. "God sent a messenger."

I felt my heart pausing with fear. What has the messenger told her?

"God said he will curse our land unless," she paused and dived into my eyes, "unless I destroy one of you."

"One of you?" I had no idea how words flowed into my mouth.

"You and our son," she said and her eyes sent a tsunami of tears.

I stood horrorstricken.

"What should I do? What should I do, Jo?"

I felt as if my legs lost their strength and leaned on to a pillar of the temple.

With tears streaming down her face, she could do nothing but hug me. I tried to comfort her but I failed to. I was shattered. My whole world is going to collapse. I'm going to lose all my dreams, the woman I love, my child. Is this the end? Is this how everything is going to end?

"His name is Paulo Roosevelt," I said, controlling the tears that were ready to fall down.

"He gave me the chance to save one of you so that the other can survive, if not he'll destroy both of you," She gripped her arms around me. I could feel her heart beat, growing weak with pain.

I pushed her away from me and screamed, "Is this justice? Angel, you are the queen of this land, aren't you capable of stopping this?"

She was staring at me.

"You can't let God decide what we do. This is our land and you're the queen of our land, you can change the law, you can challenge the unfair rules!" I roared.

"This is the land of God, we are his creations. We have to live the way he wants us to live. I am the God's daughter; I can't go against my father." She fell on her knees. I walked closer to her and sat on the marble floor, closer to my lover.

"How long will this keep happening? How long will God control our lives?" I asked, in a low tone.

She placed her right hand on my chest. "I will break our bond with God. Our children won't be able to suffer like us."

I pulled myself closer to her and placed my head on her lap. She moved her delicate fingers through my hair.

"I love you like the moon loves the sun," she said.

I took hold of her other hand and kissed her fingers. "I love you like the wind loves the Angelic trees," I said and she smiled. "That's a very rare smile."

"Did you forget that I'm the best poet in Angelic?" I teased her.

"How can I forget that? You're my favorite poet."

"What is your favorite thing about me?" I asked.

Her fingers played with my lips, I bit her index finger, she squeezed my nose playfully and we both laughed.

"I love you," she said again.

"Paulo looks so much like you," I said and kissed her fingers once again.

"He's gifted with powers," she said.

I took my head off her lap. I turned to her, her face very tight, every though focused on masking her fears. I reached out and hugged her tightly, my arms as a shield of love. In her embrace I felt all my worries loose their keen sting and my optimism raise its head from the dirt.

As I kiss her neck a wave of pure pleasure ran through my entire body. As I kiss my way gently up her neck to lips that taste of cherry, I exploded with a happiness I've never felt.

When we finally parted, I felt is absence as a cold wind, wishing I could keep myself wrapped around her like a well-worn sweater for always.

"Kill me and save our child," I said.

She inhaled the air around her and stared at me. She was staring at me as if I've told her that I don't love her anymore.

"I love you," I said. "I love you more than everything in this world." The tears I previously controlled began to fall down. "You are the best thing that has ever happened to my life. No matter what, I'll never regret loving you."

I tried to touch her but she backed away.

"Paulo is the symbol of our love, protect him and protect yourself."

She lighted up her right hand palm with fire

"I love you, Angel," I said again.

Her eyes were emotionless. All these years I've been able to read her eyes but in this moment I failed to.

She stepped toward me. I hardly had a moment before she pressed her tongue to the seam of my lips and at my grant of access, she dived inside my mouth. My arms reached up and tangled around her soft neck. She ran her fingers down my spine, pulling me closer to her. "I love you, Jonathan Roosevelt," she said and a fire sword pushed into my stomach. But we didn't stop our kiss. We kissed until everything turned dark. I kissed her until she was the last thing I saw. As my world became dark, I heard her saying, "Jonathan, I love you and I will always love you. I'll never forget you, my Jonathan."
