Chapter 4

Alex's POV
"Bye Mariano!" I yelled up the stairs to him. He didn't respond so I walked up to his room.

"Mar?" I asked as I opened his door. I saw him playing his video games with a headset on. I walked up behind him and placed my hands on his shoulders, slightly rubbing them.

"Bye Mar." He paused his game and took his headset off.

"Alejandro here?" He asked and I nodded. I kissed his cheek and made my way to the door.

"Bring a sweater it might get cold." I chuckled a bit and took one of his hoodies.

"Hey, Alex!" Alejandro greeted me once I got in the car. I smiled at him. Mattia was on my right and Alvaro on my left.

"So what are we doing?" I signed to Alvaro. He stared at me for a bit then looked at Mattia.

"I'm still not too good at this. What'd she say?" I sighed, it sucks when you can communicate with your friends.

"She asked what are we doing," Mattia said.

"Damn Mattia, how do you know sign language so well? It's only been a month." Kairi said from the back seat.

"I've been practicing so I can talk to Alex." I rolled my eyes.

"Sure did a full 180 huh," Robert said.

"What do you mean?" Mattia asked.

"You went from making fun of her and putting her down to wanting to learn a whole new language just to talk to her."

"Ou does Mattia have a crush?" Alejandro chimed in, looking at Mattia threw the mirror then back at the road.

"What, no!" Mattia shouted. I covered my right ear and leaned away from him.

"God Matti you don't have to yell," Alvaro said. To be honest I get really annoyed with Mattia and kinda wished he still hated me.

"Speaking of crushes, do you like anyone Alex?" Robert said as he positioned himself so he was looking back at me. (He was in the front with Alejandro.)

I felt someone staring at me and turned to see Mattia. He was eyeing me down and I gave him a confused look.

"What?" He looked away and I looked back a Robert.

"I kinda like this one guy but it's whatever." Robert smiled and nodded.

"Who is it? Who do you like?" I scoffed.

"I'm not telling you silly." I smiled and Robert rolled his eyes.

We pulled up to the mall and I was kinda confused. I tapped Mattia on the shoulder since he knew sign language the best.

"I thought we were going out to eat." Mattia looked at me for a while then made an 'o' shape with his mouth.

"We're eating at the mall then shopping." I nodded and ran up to walk next to Kairi. He smiled at me and wrapped his arm around my shoulders.

3rd person POV

(2 hours later because they're slow eaters.)

The group finished eating and started to walk around. They separated into 2 groups, Alejandro, Alex, and Mattia in one and Kairi, Alvaro and Robert in the other. The boys made their way to Zumiez while Alex's group just walked around.

Alex's attention turned from Mattia and Alejandro arguing to her phone. She read Mariano's angry text, telling her 'it's late you should be back by now!' She sighed as Mariano's 'moment' continued. She ignored the message and went back to watching her friends fight.

"Hey, we should head out now," Alejandro said to the two as he looked at his phone. Alex informed the boys that she had to go to the bathroom and to just wait outside the mall with the other boys.

Alex's POV

I finished my business and made my way out of the bathroom. I noticed there were a lot fewer people around since the mall was closing. I looked around at all the shoppers when my eyes landed on one guy I never thought I see again. It took me a while to realize he was staring back at me with an evil smirk. I started to speed walk away but I heard loud footsteps behind me.

"Where you going, babe?" I deep voice said as my arm was pulled back. I turned around and was face to face with a boy named Tyler. He went to my old school.

"Still not talking huh?" He laughed. "Remember all the fun we used to have?" He smirked and a tear rolled down my cheek. He started pulling me back to the bathrooms and all the memories of Tyler came flooding back.

I gasped as my back was met with the cold bathroom wall. Tyler started kissing my neck while I cried silently. I somehow pushed him off me and ran for the exit. I saw the boys and ran to the closes one.

"Woah what happened?" Alvaro asked as I wrapped my arms around his neck, crying into his shoulder. His arms snaked around my back and he held me tightly. I heard the mall doors open and Tyler's voice.

"Why'd you run babe?" I pulled away from Alvaro and was met with confused faces.

"Is this your boyfriend?" Alejandro asked.

"Yeah, I am!" Tyler smirked. I shook my head and faced Mattia.

"He's not my boyfriend, he's a bad person and we have to go." I signed a little too fast.

"Woah slow down, I didn't get that." I signed it again slowly as Tyler tried to pull me away.

"Hey! Get your hands off her!" Robert yelled as he and Alejandro pulled him away from me. Mattia finally got what I said and told the boys we had to leave. We all got in the car and I couldn't stop crying. I sat next to Alvaro and hugged him the whole ride back to Mariano's house.

3rd person POV

The group got to Mariano's house and Alex pushed Alvaro out of the car so she could get out. She ran to the door with the boys following her, wanting answers.

Alex looked around the first floor of the house and stopped at the stairs. She looked back at the boys and pointed to the couch. They sat down as she pulled out her phone.

"Seriously Alex? You're not talking to me again? I'm not coming down then." Mariano shouted from upstairs refusing to the text Alex just sent him. She pleaded with him over text but he just kept saying no. She looked over at the boys and bit her lip.

"Mariano please I need you!" A few gasps were heard by the boys. Alex refused to look at them now. Mariano slowly made his way down the stairs.

"What?" He asked in a rude way. Alex tried to hug him but he backed away.

"Mariano," Alex mumbled. "I saw Tyler today." Mariano's face softened. He looked over at the boys then back at Alex with regret plastered on his face.

"You talk to them now?" Mar asked and Alex shook her head. "I'm so sorry. If I knew they were here I would have come down when you texted me." Mar pulled Alex into a tight hug. The boys were about to say something when a phone went off.

"Alex that's yours," Mariano says pulling away as he felt it vibrating on his thigh. Mariano looked at the boys then took Alex's phone.

"Hello? No... Yes... Are you kidding?... Okay, we'll be there soon." Mariano slowly pulled the phone away from his ear and looked at Alex.

"Your um... Your brother is in the hospital."
