3rd person POV

3 years later

"Frank, you coming tonight?" Danny asked though the phone.

"Yea, I wouldn't miss it for the world."

"Okay, see you soon bud." Ever since that night, the boys would get together on Alex's birthday and have a nice dinner together.

This loss made all of them different. Like Kairi for example. He was such a nice boy, always making sure everyone around him felt safe and happy. He was Alex's nightlight she called it. Whenever she felt herself slipping into the darkness he was there, shining a path back. Kairi didn't know that of course. But now, Kairi needs a nightlight. Even though it's been 3 years he still cries himself to sleep at night...

"Hey," Mariano said softly as he opened the front door.

"Hey man, how you been?" Danny asked as he and Julian stepped in.

"I've been good actually. I got the job I was telling you all about!" Danny and Julian smiled.

"That's amazing, man!" The 2 made their way into the dining room while Mariano answers the door again.

"Hello." Mariano looked down at the fragile boy in front of him.

"Hey Kai. How have you been?" Kairi just shrugged and walked in. Mar sighed. He felt bad for the little man. He hasn't been the same. You can't blame him, Alex was his best friend but everyone has been doing good. Kairi and... Him. Have been different.

"Do you guys know if Mattia is coming this year?" Mar asked as he joined the 3 in the dining room.

"I don't know. I haven't talked to him in a while." Danny said. "Well, I guess he never really liked me." He chuckled.

"You're right but still." Julian agreed.

"Kai?" The said boy looked up. "Have you talked to him?" He shrugged and looked back down at his fingers. The 3 other boys shared a look before Mar went to answer the door again.

"Hey!" Frank and Logan walked in.

"You're always too loud Frank." Danny shook his head.

"Sorry. I'm just really excited! It's Alex's birthday!" Frank was the one who took the whole thing the best. He knew Alex wouldn't want to see them all sad all the time. So he's the cheery one, always bringing up people's moods.

"Has anyone heard from Alejandro or Mattia?" Everyone shook their heads. "Man... I wonder what their up to." Logan said.

"Hey, where's Kairi?" Mar asked once he locked the door and went back to the dining room.

"Upstairs." Mar nodded and made his way up. He found Kairi in Alex's room. Just looking around.

"Hey man." Kairi looked and saw Mar leaning against the door frame.

"Oh sorry. I just really wanted to see her room again."

"Don't worry about it. I come in here every day."

"You haven't changed it at all." Kairi smiled. A real smile, not a fake one he gives his friends. Only Alex could get him to smile for real.

"Why would I? Alex would get pissed." A little giggle left Kai's mouth making Mar smile. "Feel free to stay here as long as you need. I'll call you when dinner is done." Kairi didn't say anything but Mar knew he got the message so he went back downstairs.

"Why did you leave me, Alex?" Kairi sobbed as he threw himself on her bed. Even after 3  years, Kairi noticed it still smelled like her.

"I never got to tell you my secret. You wouldn't have cared that much but I still wanted to tell you!" He looked up at the ceiling as tears streamed down his face.

"Why!! Why did you do this! I need you, Alex!. I can't do this without you anymore." Kairi whispered the last part.

Kairi felt the bed dip next to him so he turned his head. But no one was there.

"What the fuck?" He knew he felt it. It felt like someone laid right next to him. He even felt a leg pressed up against his.

"Alex? Is that you?" Kairi paused waiting for an answer. "Of course it's not you. You're so stupid Kairi." He got up and went into her bathroom. He looked at his tear-stained cheeks and messy hair. He hated who he was. He wanted to be the happy boy he was... But he needs Alex.

"I miss you so fucking much Alex!" He slammed his hands on the sink and cried.

"I miss you too bubs." Kairi's head shot up. He looked in the mirror and there was Alex. She was standing behind him.

"Alex? Is that really you?" The girl smiled and nodded.

"Yea bubs. It really is." Kairi felt and saw her wrap her arms around his shoulders. "I've been watching you, Kai. You can't keep living your life like this."

"But I just miss you so much." He cried.

"Don't cry. I'm always with you. Even if you don't know it." Kairi nodded. "I love you bubs." Kai felt a soft kiss on his cheek then Alex was gone. He smiled to himself and walked downstairs.

"Hey, guys!" He cheered. Everyone looked at him weirdly. They haven't seen him this happy in forever.

"Hey man." Kairi turned around and saw someone he hasn't seen in a LONG time.

"Mattia?"

Hehe, I guess this story isn't over. Y'all might hate me for what's gonna happen but it is what it is. I love you all! Byeee.
