''Hazel!'' someone's voice reaches me, causing my eyes to drift away from the book I was currently reading and look over to my best friend.

''Sup Ash?'' I replied, licking the tip of my finger and flipping the page as my eyes continued skimming over the words, my brain processing everything I read.

''Hazel, I just got a call!'' Ashton rushed, breathing heavily, for he was running.

I lifted my gaze again, my eyebrows shooting up questioningly, as to tell him to elaborate.

''From the hospital. '' he added, my eyes narrowing in sudden confusion and panic. What is it now?

''What happened, Ashton?'' I urgently spoke, throwing my book to the side, immediately forgetting about it and focusing my attention on the timid brunette.

''I have no idea, but I think it's my mum. They only told me to come.'' he explained and  my eyes widened.

''Hazel, what if she's-''

I rose a hand.

''Don't, Ash. Don't even say it. Just, let's go, quickly. '' I said, grabbing my backpack from the ground and swinging it over my shoulder. It was lunch break and I was sitting in the school yard, under a tree where I read and munched on my Skittles.

''But- okay, lemme just go grab my keys.'' Ashton said, running away.

''I'll be at the front!'' I yelled after him, hoping that he heard me, before starting to make my way out, trying to go unnoticed.

But a figure came into my sight and I sighed, mentally preparing myself.

''Hazel?''

I tried to flash him a smile, but I'm afraid it was more of a grimace. ''Luke.''

The blonde sent me a look of confusion as he finally stepped few feet away from me.

''Why are you in such hurry?'' he asked curiously, noticing my impatience.

I shook my head.

''I'm accompanying Ashton, we um... to hell, I'll tell you. We're going to hospital. '' I told Luke, his expression same as mine only minutes ago.

''Why, what's-''

''Ashton thinks it might be his mum. ''

Luke's mouth formed an 'o' as he went silent. Just then, Ashton came running, keys jingling in his hand.

''We going? Hi Luke. '' he got out, his eyes flicking to Luke for a second.

''Yes. Um, we'll see you then Lu-''

''Can I come with?'' Luke interrupted, getting a weird look from both of us.

''Um...'' I looked at Ashton, unsure. Why the fück did he want to come with us?

''Alright, let's just go already. '' Ashton said, starting to speed walk again. We followed to the red pickup and Luke suddenly pipped in.

''I can drive if you want? I drive like crazy when I want to, we'll be there in like, five minutes tops.'' he suggested and Ashton and I shared a look.

''Whatever. '' I responded.

''You were right, my head's literally spinning right now.'' I commented, stumbling out of the car, getting a small grin from the boy.
