Linstead: One Shots

Overdue

Erin was pacing in her apartment, it was 3 in the morning and she couldn't sleep. 39 weeks pregnant will do that, once she got comfortable the baby would move and press on her bladder so she just thought it was easier staying awake.

Jay had been staying with her these last couple months, he didn't want to miss anything or he didn't want her to be alone if anything happened. They had agreed to do this together even though they weren't a couple. Their feelings over this time grew but Erin didn't want her raging hormones to be the only reason they got back together.

Aswell as being uncomfortable Erin was stressed about not being ready for the baby, they had a lot of little things but not the essiential items. For some reason they just hadn't gotten around to it, but Jay had the weekend off so he agreed to help her pick things up and help with the nursery.

As Erin kept pacing suddenly the hallway light turned on and Jay appeared in nothing but a pair of boxes, he was startled when he saw her looking at him, "Oh my god Erin, what are you doing?"

"Jay I'm freaking out, I mean I'm not ready for this." She said waddling up to him.

"Er, I just have to go to the toilet." He said started to squirm as she pulled onto him.

"Jay seriously, why did we think this was a good idea? We haven't got any of the big things, like a bassinet..."

"Erin I really have to go." Jay said nodding his head in the direction of the toilet why Erin still had a tight grip on him.

"This is serious Jay, we need things. A changing table, a car seat, everything." Erin said rocking from side to side.

"I know this is serious Erin. Remember we are sorting all that out this week, we will go pick things out and then the entire team is willing to come over and help set it all up. You don't have to worry." Jay said kissing her hand.

"Am I going to be a good mum? I haven't had the best role model to go off." Erin said with a frown.

"Okay look Erin, if we are going to get into that I'm going to go do that..." he said pointing to the toilet again, "And then we can sit down and talk okay?"

Erin nodded and let go of Jays hand "Okay."

Erin slowly sat down on the lounge and drifted off to sleep, for some reason talking to Jay took all the stress away even if it was only for a second. When Jay walked out of the bathroom he noticed Erin had fallen asleep, he slowly picked up a blanket and draped it over her. Smiling to himself all he could think about was how happy he was to start this new adventure, he just hoped that she would hopefully want to start that with him aswell as this new life she was creating.

While they were shopping at the baby store, the assistance had eyes for Jay. Erin wasn't surprised, he was very easy in the eyes.

"So who will I put the order under? Mr and Mrs?" She looked up at them as they both shook their heads.

"Oh no we aren't married, or together. It's complicated." Erin said giving her an awkward smile.

They gave her both their names and the address that it was getting delivered too, the lady then looked up at Jay "So Jay it was a pleasure to meet you." She shocked Jays hand slipping him a note, then smiled at Erin as they left.

Walking out of the store Erin gave Jay a jealous look "Well she had the hots for you."

"Must have, she slipped me her number." Jay chuckled.

"Seriously, wow. Trying to snatch herself a daddy."

Jay stopped and grabbed Erins hand "Are you jealous, I mean I think that's a little unfair. You were the one that didn't want us to be an us and I didn't even ask for her number."
