Prompt #4: Bullet Fic

If you could change one SMALL thing in the Silmarillion (cannot be 'no melkor' 'no silmarils' 'no violence' etc.), what would it be? Write a bullet fic about how that would change the story and to what degree.

What is a bullet fic? It's how to write stories for those of us (me) who are far too lazy to actually care about grammar or punctuation or anything like that. It's also a really effective way of making a plot outline for yourself if you have an idea but don't want to write out the whole fic. The purpose of a bullet fic is to convey an idea/story through a series of bullet points instead of writing out whole sentences. For me at least, it is more time-effective and at times easier when you have That One Really Good Idea, but can't get it to come out properly when you try to write it down. I'll give you guys an example:

(Bilbo never tells Gollum his name in TH) --> small detail, would have a huge effect

- Bilbo wakes up in a dark hole with a weird grey thing above him asking him if he is edible

- naturally, his first reaction is to tell the thing his name, species, and address (roughly), and then to continue on his merry way, right?

- WRONG, who does that? didn't we all learn in like kindergarten that that is never a good idea?

- He says he is Bilbo but gives no more information, leaving Gollum to decide if Bilbo is who he is, what he is, or his edibility

- this never seems a big enough occurrence in the grand course of his journey to bring it up to anyone else until many years later at a certain council in Rivendell

- Gollum is captured (same old same old) by our favourite drag-queen dark lord (Sauron), and all the information he has is Bilbo.

- therefor the Nazgul are sent out looking for a place called Bilbo, which naturally does not exist, this being a sane and reasonable land which definitely does not have names like Frogmorton or Mount Doom  (you could have just said, its the mountain with all the sketchy stuff and dark clouds, don't go there).

- Frodo, Sam, Pippin, and Merry therefor never encounter the Nazgul on their journey to Rivendell and are much easier to convince that Aragorn is helpful

- Frodo is never injured, and they reach Rivendell all in one piece and able to travel on the roads with no issue.

- the fellowship is formed, and the nine set out, still completely at ease because the Nazgul are still of searching for Bilbo land and Gollum is still researching whether Bilbos are edible.

I will stop here because it's getting long, but you guys get the gist, its a story told much more informally through the context of bullet points like you're just chilling in a boat with you're friends and there are no torches anywhere nearby. Enjoy! I look forwards to hearing yours!
