Thunder (request)

Diego and Shira were walking back to the den. The two cats had finished a hunt together and were heading back to the den. Diego had been trying to muster up the courage to ask Shira on a date but everytime he chickens out.

Rrrrr. The cats' ears twitched at a rumble from above and they looked up and saw dark gray clouds, the rumbling was getting a louder a bit.

"Looks like we're having a thunder storm tonight. Come on let's get back to the den" Diego said as he walked off but Shira was a little nervous, her ears flat as she kept walking.

It started to rain, soaking the two cats. Every time there was a thunder, Shira would pause in her walking scared before continuing. The two cats made it to the den, their fur dripping.

Shira winced at the sound of thunder, this time it was louder. "You ok?" She heard Diego's voice and looked at him. The brown saber shook his soaking fur as he stared at Shira worried. He saw her wince but he wasn't sure from what. She didn't get hurt from the hunt so what?

"I'm fine" Shira lied to Diego, blushing in embarrassment that he saw her wince in fear. She walked deeper in the den, her head down so he wouldn't see her face and she sat down, licking herself. Diego was suspicious of Shira 'What's up with her?' He wondered as he sat down, licking his paw.

The two cats went to asleep...but it was gonna be a loooong night with that thunderstorm. Shira was asleep but her ears twitched at the sound of raindrops hitting the ground and the thunder getting louder. She moved in discomfort from the sound and put one paw on her ear to block the sound.

BOOOM!

Shira jumped up spooked and startled, her ears flat scared. She looked out the den and lightning flashed outside, illuminating the den for a small moment. Shira got scared, her heart racing.

"Looks like I won't be getting any sleep tonight" she told herself as she winced again from the thunder.

"So that's what's bothering you" Diego's voice perked up and Shira swerved her at his direction. The brown saber was lying on the ground, staring at her with his green eyes.

Shira groaned annoyed. She didn't want Diego to know that she was afraid of thunder. "So the kitty is afraid of a little thunder" Diego teased her a little. Shira growled at him irritated.

But Diego's face soften at her and he lifted his head "You could sit next to me until the storm passes" he offered her and she stopped growling and stared at him surprised.

"What?" Shira said dumbfounded. Diego chuckled at her "Look this storm might last all night so maybe sleeping near me might make you less scared" he explained to her and Shira glared at him as she walked over.

"Call me scared again and this will be your last night" she warned him as she lied down next him. Diego lied down sleeping but after a few minutes he heard small whimpers and kept sensing some small movement near him.

He opened his eyes and saw that it was Shira. She kept moving in discomfort and whimpered scared from the thunder like a little cub. Diego stared at her sympathetic and wanted to comfort her.

He brought himself closer to her and rested his head on top of her shoulders. Shira felt something on her and she opened her eyes. Shira got surprised to see Diego and she blushed. Diego had the same reaction.

"What are you doing?" She asked him suspicious and growling at him as a warning. "Um just wanted to ask you out?" He said without thinking about his words until it was too late.

"Oh really?" She said plainly and Diego's eyes widen, realizing his error. 'Idiot! Why did I say that?!' He panicked in his head. He looked at her and now there was no point in backing out so he decided to tell her.

"Y-Yeah because I....I love you" he told her and Shira stared at him wide eye and blushing pink. Diego's eyes looked away but he wasn't moving his head off her.

Shira then soften and smiled at him. Her paw touched his face and brought it closer to him. She gave him a lick on the cheek which made him blush. "I love you too" she told him as she lied down and snuggled closer to him.

Diego relaxed and smiled at her. He rested his head on her, pulling her close to him, the two cats sleeping peacefully in the thunder storm.
