"So how long have you lived here?" Peter asked, keeping pace beside me.
"3 years. The Professor took me in when my parents were killed. I think...."
He gave me an weird look.
"Think?"
I shrugged, opening a door into an hallway with three doors.
"I don't remember anything before I came here. Anyway, the door on the left is the girls, right one is boys. My room is the one at the end," I gestured at the door at the end of the hall.
"Tomorrow I'll show you the grounds and forest."
Susan opened their door.
"Thank you Elentiya. Come along Lucy, it's almost your bedtime."
Lucy sighed and bounced after her sister.
Peter and Edmund went into their room as I slipped into mine.
I settled onto my window seat, flipping open my book again. I was so absorbed into it, I didn't hear the knock on my door.
"My goodness that must be a good book." I jumped, looking up at the Professor. He was smiling, looking quite amused.
"Oh! I'm sorry, I didn't hear you knock," I folded my legs up and he sat on the seat in front of me.
"How do you like our four guests?"
I considered for a moment.
"Well, I think when they get settled they'll be alot of fun."
The Professor struck a match and lit his pipe.
"The younger boy, Edmund, looks like he could be a troublemaker," Now he side eyed me.
"Did you know he's fifteen?"
I glanced up from my book, raising a eyebrow.
He chuckled and stood.
"Get some sleep Ellen."
I smiled and nodded. I loved it when he said my nickname.
The Professor walked out, closing the door with a click behind him.
I sighed and trudged to bed, not bothering to change as I flopped onto it, asleep instantly.
It started raining that night.
Something jumped on my back repeatedly, calling my name.
"Elentiya wake up! Wake up wake up wake up!!"
I groaned and rolled over, Lucy fell off, giggling.
"I'm awake..."
Lucy dragged me from my bed, I grabbed my boots on the way by, hopping on one foot to get them on quick enough.
Thunder cracked and rain poured outside as I followed Lucy down the stairs to the library.
"I found her!" She sang as I walked in, pulling my fingers through my hair to smooth out down.
Susan looked up at me apologetically.
"Sorry. She insisted you join us here."
I shrugged.
"It's fine,"
Peter was lounging across a chair, Susan had a huge dictionary across her lap and Edmund.....I think he was carving something into the bottom of an chair with his knife.
Lucy started playing with something behind Peter's chair, I sat on the couch cross legged, opening an book, as Susan looked at Peter again.
"Come on Peter. Gas-tro-vas-cular."
"Oh is it latin?"
Susan sighed.
"Yes."
Edmund sat up, smirking.
"Is it latin for the worst game ever invented?"
I grinned, Susan rolled her eyes as Lucy came up to Peter.
"We could play hide-and-seek."
"But we're already having so much fun..." He said dramatically.
"Come on Peter pleeeeaaaasssseeee?"
"1, 2, 3, 4..."
I huffed and jumped off the couch, dragging Lucy behind me up the stairs.
