Naruto, the 4th member of Team 7

Team 7

Today's the day where I would find out what team I'll be in.

I woke up an hour before we were supposed to be in the academy so I could shower and have my breakfast.

Once I was done, I wore a mesh top and black shorts. I topped it off by wearing a short sleeved kimono cardigan, I tied the cloth around my waist that acted as a belt so that it wasn't loose and fits my body perfectly.

The Akiyama clan is known for wearing traditional Japanese outfits, let it be modernized or not, such as how the Uchiha clan is known for their high collared shirts.

I attached my tool pouch on the back of my shorts and wore my shuriken holster on my right knee as I was right handed, making sure that they were both stocked up.

I then looked at the mirror smiling to myself, I was ready for my first day.

"You're forgetting something." a familiar voice rang out behind me.

I didn't need to turn around to know that it was Ryuji, one of the ANBU assigned to protect me who said that. I could see him and Yuugao standing by the doorway through my mirror.

Ryuji was actually the ANBU who saved me and brought me to the hospital back then. He's the squad leader of his team, and yet Sandaime assigned him to protect me. His black hair was short and messy, and he was wearing his mask as usual. I have never ever seen his face before all these years, but I could definitely identify him just by his voice now.

Yuugao on the other hand has long purple hair, she too was wearing her mask and the both of them were in their standard ANBU outfit.

I knew what they were talking about, my forehead protector which was placed on the cupboard next to my mirror.

I took it off from the cupboard and looked at it, smiling to myself.

"I'm finally a ninja huh." I said to them as I thought about how I would want to wear it.

"Yes, congratulations by the way." Yuugao congratulated me which I nodded in response as I decided to tie it around my forehead.

"After you know your team, report to Sandaime's office. He wants to speak to you." Ryuji informed me.

I know what Sandaime wanted to talk to me about, he was going to dismiss Ryuji and Yuugao since I'm finally a genin.

I was silent, I wasn't necessarily sad but they've been watching over me silently all these years. And now that their mission is going to end, I can't help but feel like I've lost something in my life.

"You've grown a lot Akiko. Keep up with your training and you'll be a fine ninja some day." Yuugao comforted me.

"Hopefully we'll meet again some day, but I hope we would be on the same side." Ryuji added on.

"Thank you for protecting me and for those training sessions for the past few years." I thanked them to which they both nodded.

It was only then when I noticed the time, oh crap, Im late!

We didn't say anything more as they both disappeared and I rushed out of my house, running to the academy as fast as I could.

Geez, the class sure is being noisy today, I can hear them from the corridor!

I quickly opened the back door, hoping Iruka sensei hasn't entered the class when I immediately wished I was late a few minutes more.

I had clearly entered at the wrong time.

The entire class had became silent and everyone was focused on one thing.

Sasuke and Naruto were kissing.

Oh my god................

Sasuke and Naruto immediately broke away from each other and began coughing profusely.

"Uhhhh is it my fault?" Kenta who was sitting in front of them questioned no one in particular, he looked guilty and shocked at the same time.

The group of girls who were by their table looked pissed.

"Naruto...... you...." Sakura started.

"It was an accident, I swear!" Naruto nervously held his hands up in a surrender pose.

"You're annoying!" Sakura cracked her knuckles as she and the other girls began to step closer to Naruto.

Naruto gulped before he started shouting as the girls started to beat him up.

I then quickly sat down next to Kenta and demanded he fill me in on what happened.

Just as Kenta finished telling me what happened, Iruka sensei entered and everyone took their seats.

"Starting today, you are all official ninjas. But you are all still new Genins, and the road is going to get tough from here. You will be in groups of 3, and you will be led by a Jounin who will guide you on your missions. But as we have an odd number of students this year, so one of the groups will have 4 persons instead of 3." Iruka sensei explained.

Odd numbered? So someone is going to be the extra? I hope it isn't me......

"We've arranged the teams so that the overall abilities would be equal. I will now announce them." Iruka sensei then began to announce the teams.

"Tsugi, dai nana han!" (Next, Team 7) Iruka sensei began.

"Uzumaki Naruto, Haruno Sakura." this was met by a shout of approval from Naruto.

"Uchiha Sasuke." followed by Sakura shouting happily.

"And, Akiyama Akiko!" 

I deadpanned, I'm the extra one, dang it I shouldn't have thought about it, I probably jinxed myself.

Iruka sensei continued to call out the remaining teams, after which he and Naruto got into an argument cause Naruto didn't want to be in a group with Sasuke.

I didn't pay attention to what happened as I was focused on my thoughts.

What an interesting team I'm in, I wonder how it'll turn out.
