Dinner Date

"I'm hungry. What'a your mom making for dinner?" Brooke asks me.

"Brooke, I told you, my parents are in Afghanistan on a business trip." I say.

"Oh yeah. That's why I'm staying with you this entire week. Well I can't cook, and you're too lazy to cook. What the fuck are we gonna do?" She inquires.

"Let's go out. Consider it a date." I wink at her.

"Fine. But if this is a date, I have to get ready. And I have to look good." She smiles.

"Take your time." I say.

She goes into the bathroom to take a shower so I change clothes and go downstairs to wait on her.

'I don't know what to do about this assignment. I'm so confused.' I think. I continue waiting as I play Candy Crush on my phone and text my best guy friend Derrick. Then I hear footsteps coming down the stairs and I get up to go see her. My jaw drops as I see my beautiful best friend. She's wearing a crop top and cut off jeans. Her hair is in perfect little curls. She looks absolutely stunning.

"You look like you just stepped out of a country music video." I joke.

"Why, thank you. That's what I was going for." She grins.

Then she looks at my outfit. I'm just wearing dark skinny jeans, a superman shirt, and a SnapBack.

"You look like you always do." She giggles.

"That's kinda what I was going for. You ready to go?" I ask.

"Yeah. Your car or mine?" She inquires.

"Let's see... Do we want to take your tiny Volkswagen Beetle or do we want to take my amazing Ford Mustang? You pick." I grin.

"We're taking the Mustang." She says quickly.

I grab my car keys and her hand. As we walk outside, I turn and lock the front door. Then we walk over to my Mustang.

"Have I mentioned I love this car?" She asks.

"Maybe just a few hundred times. If this date goes well, maybe I'll let you drive us home." I smile at her.

"Really? Yay!" She says as her eyes light up.

I open the passenger door for her and then close it after she gets in. Then I walk around to the drivers side and climb in.

"Oh look at you. You're starting this date off like a gentleman." She giggles.

"Except I'm not a man." I say.

"Alright... A gentlewoman?" She asks.

"Yeah sure. That sounds like a real word." I laugh.

As I start up the car, Brooke reaches over and turns the radio on. It's blaring some kind of loud, heavy metal song and she starts singing along. I laugh at her attempt to sing along to this song. She turns the radio down.

"Where are we going?" She asks.

"It's a surprise." I giggle.

I continue driving until we reach Brooke's favorite restaurant, Apollo Flame. It's a nice little Greek restaurant.

"Apollo Flame?!?!" She says excitedly.

"Yeah. I know it's your favorite so I decided this would be a great place for our date." I smile.

After I park the car, she jumps out and runs for the door. I walk slowly, just to make her mad. She marches back to me, grabs my arm, and pulls me along behind her.

"You're excited." I point out.

"Oh, really? How ever did you know?" She says, rolling her eyes.

"Why so excited?" I giggle.

"Because this is my favorite restaurant and this is our first date. I have reasons to be excited." She blushes.

We finally reach the door and walk in. We get a table outside because it's pretty warm today. We order our food and wait. As soon as Brooke gets her food, she devours it.

"God, you really were hungry." I say, laughing.

"Shut it. I'm an animal. You know that." She giggles.

"You really have to be an animal on our first date?" I ask.

"Yep. You love me even if I am an animal." She states.

I turn my attention back to my food and finish eating. I pay, because I'm a gentlewoman. We walk back to the car and she smiles at me.

"You can drive." I say, tossing her the keys.

"Yay!" She exclaims.

We get into the car and she drives us home.

"I want a Mustang now." She says as she gets out of the car.

"Beg your parents. That's what I did." I say laughing.

"That isn't gonna work on my parents. But anyways, thanks for the date. It was fun." She says as we walk into the house.

"No problem. You were hungry, I couldn't let you starve." I say laughing.

'Maybe this is what defines us. The little things we so to make other people happy.' I think as I begin to ponder on this assignment.
