"Hi, there! I'm Parvati. Parvati Nair." Parvati greeted another pedestrian as we made our way to the lobby of my office building.
Turns out, when I shut her down, her system went into hibernation and a few of her program files were corrupted. Those few had to be the ones I worked the hardest for- the ones that gave her an artificial sense of maturity and emotional intelligence. It isn't her fault, really.
Or mine.
Hopefully?
"Meera, do you know that there are particles even smaller than the protons, neutrons, electrons and positrons?" Parvati looked at me with a sparkle in her eyes and a wide grin on her face.
The other employees in the lift turned to look at the pretty new face with childish enthusiasm.
And those looks were anything but appreciative.
"I do, Parvati. Everyone knows that."
I heard a couple of scoffs and I'm pretty sure I wasn't imagining them.
A few minutes later, I was back in the office. Everything was just the way it was before I left. The hustle-bustle of the office remained unchanged, complete with the ringing of the telephones and the noise of the printers. The interns were all too busy with their assignments to even take note of me. Now, I wasn't expecting any grand welcome or anything of the sort but I wouldn't be lying if I said that I half expected this.
Nobody really bothers to take note of a 'nobody'.
"Your heart rate is irregular and your cheeks display signs of a possible blood rush."
Right. I forgot that I had a Baymax tagging along with me.
"You think?"
At that moment, someone began clapping from behind, almost startling me. I turned around to see Arjun clapping wholeheartedly, with a soft smile on his face.
After a moment's worth of silence, the entire office joined in. Drishti and Arush finally noticed me. However, they didn't seem too thrilled to have me back. I turned to look back at Arjun, a small smile on my lips. Unable to find my voice, I mouthed a small 'thank you.'
"Meeraaaaa! I'm so happy you're back, gurllll! You have no idea how much I missed you!" Drishti engulfed me in a bear hug just as Arjun began making his way over to me.
"I missed you too, Drishti." I hugged her back, my eyes fixed on Arjun as he walked over.
"Enough, Daga. Back to work, everyone." Miranda Priestley ordered.
Everyone is dead scared of our boss and she has that same attitude on her face as did Miranda Priestley. Plus, I never could muster up the courage to ask around for her name. So I figured I'd just call her 'Miranda Priestley' rather than calling her 'Boss Lady.'
