she sat staring out the window, her eyes watching the lean trees sway in the harsh wind, the delicate daisies collapsing into each other due to the savage pellets of precipitation thundering into the innocent weeds and plants. the lighting bolts flared into the night sky while the catastrophic thunder echoed scintillated, causing shivers to cascade down the girls back.
the storm continued to rage on even after she tore her gaze away and focused on the room she had not left in months.
her rubbish bin had tipped over from the heaping piles of laundry scattered around the barely visible carpet.
the teenager just mindlessly shrugged and pushed herself down onto the un-made bed, her sheets staying crumpled underneath her feet.
tears trickled down her cheeks absentmindedly, memories of her forgotten friends tracing her inner thoughts.
"y/n! stop." the boy shouted out you between gasps of laughter, his muscular arms clasping his stomach to ease the pain of the stitches that had formed.
y/n didn't listen, instead she continued running towards the crashing waves, holding her surfboard tightly.
the tide took her with it, letting her glide across the rising water, without a care in the world.
jj just stood staring in awe at the adventurous girl. his entire life he believed that he wouldn't find anyone more insouciant and devil-may-care than him, well until he met y/n y/l/n.
y/n cares about nothing. she would fight somebody if they came between her and her friends, she would defend somebody close to her no matter what, even if it would cost her own life. if somebody told her to go cliff jumping she would, or skydiving, she would.
there was nothing she wouldn't do, and JJ admired her greatly for it but it also gave him daily headaches having to look after y/n and worry about her constantly.
y/n's body started to shake violently as sobs escaped her, chokes scraping against her throat and leaving a burning sensation.
the girl hates thinking about JJ maybank looking after her, about him caring for her.
jj was meant to be reckless, he was meant to join her on the stupid, insane trips she decided she had to do. but instead, he would just sit and watch her, preparing to catch her if she fell from her high.
when the pogues first met you, they were confused to say the least.
"hi, i'm y/n." the y/h/c spoke softly, her voice deceiving her confident body language. pope held his hand out for her to shake, introducing himself.
the entire group said their greetings but the teenage girl immediately felt drawn to the blonde boy sat beside a vacant seat, which y/n quickly filled, grinning at the pogues.
from that day on, they knew she belonged with them. pope was the responsible one, john b was the leader, kiara was the supplier which left y/n and jj to be the comic relief, providing the entertainment for the boisterous group.
however, nobody really knew her. if the pogues decided for a chill day, leaving them all to sit in a circle and just talk about everything and anything, y/n stayed silent.
questions about family: silent
questions about friends: silent
nobody knew why she didn't speak about herself at all, only about her love for anything outgoing. everything she did was to drown out the screaming in her ears, to allay the throbbing ache in her head, to palliate the feeling of her chest being constricted and tight.
they would just observe her risk her life religiously just to disappear for the next week, no trace of where she was.
again, they knew nothing about her, including her address. they didn't even know if y/n was even a real pogue, she could easily have been a kook the whole time considering the taciturn exterior she relied on.
the only words they could use to describe y/n was erratic and capricious.
her heart felt like it being ripped out as the manic girl leaned out her window, climbing onto the edge. she looked down at the long drop, there wasn't a single person on earth who could survive the plunge.
"who even are you?" jj's voice seethed, his words laced with abhorrence, hostility and betrayal.
the boy had finally had enough. he was sick of y/n's truculent demeanour. she was always quick to deny any accusations against her, about her family and status.
he had asked about her all around the island and most people hadn't even heard her name, never mind where she lived or who she lived with.
"what do you mean?" she whispered, contrasting to her usual aggressive, loud tone when confronted.
"who. are. you?" he repeated, anger fuelling his veins, his blue eyes darkening with repugnance and loathing.
"nobody know you." he said again, deepening the sharp, metaphorical dagger which stuck in the girls chest, the air around her feeling suffocating and unbearable.
"of course they don't know me. i'm a nobody, JJ. the pogues are my only friends." y/n mumbled, her words sounding broken and shattered. jj didnt back down though, instead letting out a sarcastic, mocking scoff.
"nobody likes you, y/n. why are you even here if you don't talk about yourself? the pogues are not your friends." after his last word, he narrowed his eyes at her and spat in her paling face, chuckling when he saw the tears pool in the heartbroken girls' eyes.
"you're a liar." with that, jj turned around and stormed away, leaving y/n to curl up into a tight ball on the sand, gasping for air as she struggled to breathe.
she felt like the entire world was looking down at her and laughing, enjoying watching her world crumble in on itself.
y/n'a foot stumbled on the edge, her body teetering outwards, nearly falling off.
her figure jolted in shock when a boy stood below her, staring at her with guilt hidden behind his soft blue eyes.
"what are you doing?" he croaked out, sounding desolate and culpable. y/n gawked at jj ruining her one chance to leave the god forsaken world for good. she had no place here anymore, she never did. she must've been born in the wrong place at the wrong time because clearly she was a mistake and destiny didn't want her at the moment.
"don't do this, please." tears escaped his shattered eyes, sending the suicidal girl a spine chilling look, pleading her to stay alive for him.
y/n just shook her head at him.
"i need to do this."
his mouth opened, needing to express his feelings, hoping it could change her mind about jumping.
before his words could get out, everything flashed before him, quicker than his thoughts could process.
her frail body slipped on the tiled roof, your ribs crashing hard against the material before rolling down, ending up in a heap on the floor.
"i love you." he whispered, hands touching her artic skin, anguish encasing him, leaving him in a pit of despair and grief.
he sat on his knees infront of y/n, silence surrounding him and her lifeless body.
all he could remember was the way you looked before falling. you eyes seemed
