Chapter 8:
"Chuck, this is where you come in," Renee pointed to him as she spoke. "There is a prophecy, one that has existed almost since time began. The creatures of Enkora have mostly come and gone, but this prophecy has stayed and never changed. It is a story that has been passed down from generation to generation, the tales sometimes extravagant, but it gave the people of Enkora hope when they had nothing to hold on to. It is the greatest story of all-time, and everyone wished that they would get to meet the hero of the story.
"The only problem with wanting to meet the hero of the prophecy was that it told of an evil ruler, and there had never been anything of the sort ever in the history of Enkora. I forgot to tell you, but there had always been the same family on the throne, and Enkora had never changed its ways, simply because we found it to be the best way. Queen Aira came from a dynasty. Her family had always ruled as a single monarch. Their eldest child would inherit the throne. Of course, the monarch held a very secretive life, but rumour has it that they found their mate on the other side. There aren't many humans on this side anyway, so I suppose they'd have to go over there to find another one of their kind..."
"Queen Aira was human?" Chuck asked in disbelief. He had assumed that humans had never called Enkora 'home', and that the occasional traveler would find it by chance.
"Of course! What else would she be?!" Renee exclaimed.
Chuck paused. "Surely she'd be one of your kind, a mystical creature of Enkora, anything but human," he tried to reason. He was sure that Renee was making a mistake about the Queen being a human.
"No," Ozmo butted in, coming through the door that led to the bedrooms. "Queen Aira was most definitely a human. A good one, at that. Then again, all of the Compton family were good up until a certain point."
The name 'Compton' rung a bell, but Chuck didn't bother to think further into it, and instead focused on understanding everything he could about Enkora that Renee and now Ozmo were telling him. He wanted to take in every single piece of information told to him like a porous sponge soaking up water.
"Would you like to tell him about the Compton family?" Renee asked Ozmo, who shrugged and then continued speaking.
"The Compton family has been our monarchy since time began, as I heard Renee tell you from the other end of the house!" he glared at her slightly, and Renee got the hint that she needed to be quieter in case something or someone was listening in on them. She sighed a little and shook her head slightly at him. "Most of them are fair and loving, but sometimes you'd get the younger sibling who would return to your side of the world and live a life in reasonable luxury. Somewhere along the line though, one of the younger siblings allowed evil thoughts to enter their minds, and jealousy began to consume them. They wanted to have the life that their sibling had, and so would threaten to broadcast the existence of the other side of the world to all of the human race."
"Of course," Renee interrupted to continue the story, and Ozmo allowed her to. He knew that there was no stopping Renee when it came to telling people things. "That was very swiftly dealt with. A simple mind wipe and putting a simple, sweet story into their head ensured that Enkora was kept a secret. The younger sibling, who we only know as Sir Compton, was given a knighthood, given a business that gave him his wealth and home and filled his heads about where all his family was. Of course, he never questioned anything, how was he to know that what he knew was not the truth? He settled down and as far as I'm aware lives an ordinary human life."
"Why are you telling me this?" Chuck inquired. He was quite cautious to ask such a bold question.
"Well..." Renee began. "Omzo, how would you reason this?"
