"a bowl of porridge and sips of embarrassment"
While Aria was putting on her robe, Tayla coughed asking for attention. She turned around, questionably looking at her.
"You still owe me that three Sickles." Tayla smirked getting on her best friend's nerves.
Aria groaned and headed to her nightstand, opening a drawer and putting out a satchel. She turned it over, so that some Sickles fell out of it. She took three of them, and with an eyeroll gave them to Tayla."Thank you, Aria!" the blonde girl thanked in laughter.
After brushing their hair and putting on their shoes, they left the Common Room and headed down to the Great Hall for breakfast.
The Hall was almost completely empty when they arrived. They sat down with their backs to the aisle, they both dove into hot bowls of porridge. Tayla adding some honey to hers. And Aria some chocolate syrup to her portion.
Tayla was Aria's first friend here at Hogwarts, introducing themselves on the train ride here and sticking together ever since.
They both ate in peace until Tayla spoke up, "Aria?" Aria looked up and hummed, "Diggory is looking at you."
Aria's eyes widened, "Why is he staring? Did twins put something on my back, again?" Aria said jokingly, and looked at her robe.
"Well stop being silly, because he is still looking. And if you don't turn around now, it will be too late." Tayla stated.
Aria sighed and turned around happily, her eyes searching for Cedric. When they locked eyes, she waved at him before turning back to Tayla.
"So... Cedric, huh?"
Porridge nearly shot out of Aria's nose. She choked on her breakfast, before swallowing it. Tayla merely laughed as her best friend coughed aggressively, before her fit was brought to an end by George.
"Thanks." She muttered while sipping some of her water. After a moment, she noticed that neither of them were eating and were just staring at her, "What?"
"We can't believe you sided with that Pretty Boy Diggory over us last night." Fred said, acting hurt,
"I thought we were family, Ari." George said, touching his heart.Tayla set down her mug and looked at her, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively.
"Oh bloody hell," Aria groaned, "we're just friends! I'm a prefect, he's a prefect. We are patrolling together, but that's it!" Looking at others sitting in front of her, noticing them rolling their eyes. "We just have compatible schedules!" Aria followed.
Tayla snorted, her voice high and mocking, "We just have..." she said twisting her hair, "compatible schedules." she snickered, pretending to pop a gum in her mouth.
"Oh quit it Ari, admit that you like..." Fred snickered.
"Admit that you like what?"
Aria's face flushed crimson red as her brothers and best friend tried not to laugh around her.
Aria looked like she saw a ghost, gulped for a moment and finally turned around facing the Hufflepuff, "That I like the idea of..." she looked nervously at her friends, and then down at her plate noticing her juice, "of orange juice, but you could have it on your toast!" Aria said, mentally face palming herself.
Tayla just looked at her in disblief, not knowing how could she come up with something so stupid on the spot. And the twins practically howling in laughter by now.
"Aria," Cedric started with a silly smile, "that's called jam." And by the end of it he also broke out in laughter.
By now even Aria and Tayla were laughing, twins were basically drying their tears by now.
"Well, shall we get you some jam?" He asked noticing her plate was empty and holding out his hand.
Thinking she would die from embarrassment at any minute, she took his hand and climed off the bench and to her feet. Casting one last look at Tayla, they walked off, neither aware that their hands were still connected.
