Finally, after weeks of waiting, it was time for the internships to begin!
Izuku stood on the train platform with Skipper's leash intertwined in his hand. In the past weeks Izuku's anxiety had improved and he finally came to accept that Kacchan wasn't here and wouldn't be for a long time.. even if it brought guilt along with it. Iida also stood beside him but with a stone cold gaze. It was void of any outward emotions and it scared Izuku.. because beneath that serious expression was a boy who grieving and out for revenge for his pain.
" Hey, Deku! Iida!" A cheery voice called out behind the boys. " Hey, Uruaka!" Izuku called back " Are you excited?" "Yup! I'm gonna get so strong and learn so much! How 'bout you?" " I just hope I get some more control over my quirk this week, and start getting Skipper some experience doing actual hero work. I'm glad Aizawa let me bring him this time." " That's great! How about you Iida bear?"
Iida's expression cold expression vanished and he became beet red and flustered instead " I-I'm excited to..and don't call me that in public...." " Oh you know you love it, anyways my train is here so this is goodbye for now!~" And with that Uruaka dashed off and left the boys alone again.
"...."
" So, Iida Bear huh?"
" Shush"
" Whatt? It's cute~" Izuku teased
"Hey, would you look at that my train is here!" Iida interjected, trying to end the conversation and get away as quickly as possible. " Alright, alright. Just promise me you won't do anything stupid this week. I know you're in a lot of pain right now but hurting someone else won't solve anything." Iida stood silently for a moment before agreeing and running to catch his train.
A while later, Izuku finally rounded the block to his mentor's apartment. 'Now to finally get ahold of OFA and find out what All Might was so afraid of' Izuku thought as he wandered down the sidewalk and eventually reaching the steps of the home. However, as Izuku went up the steps, a ever familiar sinking feeling set in his chest. His thoughts began to swirl and becoming more dark and jumbled the longer they festered. Izuku stepped back and tried to calm himself as breathing became quick and shallow. Skipper tried to intervene but to no avail. ' Nononono, not now. Please not now. God, Why isn't Shinsou here?? He always know how to calm me down.' In his blur of thoughts, Izuku didn't realize he had sat down and now a very small old stood behind him. " Hey kid! What are you and your dog doing on my porch!?" "I-I um M-my name is I-Izuku Midoriya and t-this is my ESA Skipper.." Izuku pathetically studdered out, trying not to cry. " Oh! So YOUR the kid All Might picked!" He cried out " Your stuff has been sitting on my floor for like an hour. I thought you were gonna come in but I heard you sit down instead and I came out to see what the heck you were doing!" "...you're Gran Terino..?" " Not a very deep thinker are you... anyways if your done with.. whatever you got going on out here.. come inside and let's see how much that man has taught you."
After about 5 minutes Izuku had collected himself and pushed the door open. The apartment was pitch black aside from the light coming in behind him ".. Hello..?" " Took you long" . Suddenly a jet stream soared behind him and the feeling of someone springing off sent Izuku toppling, before Izuku could being to process it happened again, and again. Each time bringing a new sting of pain and confusion. Izuku tried to hide but it only make it worse. After what seemed like forever, he heard something shatter, the bouncing stopped, and the light flashed on. " I expected you to put up a little more of a fight!" The old man taunted, " Well it was dark and you caught me off guard!" " So what? You think a villain is gonna wait until it's bright and warn up before they attack? I'm gonna go get groceries and order a new microwave, you and the dog stay here and clean up." He commanded before leaving the pair alone, confused, and one aching & defeated.
This was gonna be a long week.
