It's been a while

"I haven't had McDonald's in years," Gerard said with his mouth full.

"Oh my god, it's so good!" Frank copied. "What is this?"

"A few years ago, DeLonge thought it'd be a good idea to get rid of every McDonald's in the Camp," Hayley informed. "I personally think it's just okay, but some other people think it's the best food in the world."

"Because it is," Gerard said. "American food is the best thing ever."

Hayley scoffed. "You've never had anything better?"

"Nope."

"Well, I gotta say that sushi isn't the best thing ever, but it's still better than this crap."

Gerard laughed and almost choked on his food.

"I mean, pizza is better but whatever."

Everyone turned to look at the stranger who had just walked up and sat at their table.

"What?" he said. "It's good!" He held his hand out to Billie. "I'm Pete."

"Um, Billie Joe," he said, shaking his hand.

"Not gonna lie," Pete said. "You're kinda cute."

Billie laughed and took another bite of his burger.

"Back off, he's mine," Tre joked.

Pete giggled a little before going back over to his friends at another table.

"And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why we need guyliner," Hayley said.

"You serious right now, woman?" Gerard asked. "We've all already got it."

"Hold up," Billie said. "None of that dude's friends have it on."

"Guys, just drop it," Hayley snapped. "It's not a big deal, oh my gosh."

They paid and left the McDonald's.

"So now what?" Frank asked. "I say we should get a hotel room instead of sleeping on the streets this whole time."

"That's fair," Gerard replied. "I agree."

"Alright, then let's do that." Hayley counted up the money they all had. "We've got five thousand all together. We'll have to stick with the cheap ones. Probably the motels."

"Better than nothing," Billie sighed. "How many beds do we need?"

"We should do two to a bed. It's easier," Gerard suggested.

"Okay, but there's five of us. One person will have to sleep on the floor," Frank said.

"I'm okay with it," Hayley replied. "I've slept on floors before, it's not too bad."

"Okay, then let's go find our clothes and buy a motel room for a few nights," Tre said.

They made their way to where they'd left their stuff. Billie volunteered to carry everyone's things.

"I guess we could ask someone where a motel is," Frank said. "I'll do it." He went over to a man who was walking nearby and asked for directions. Hayley couldn't hear exactly what was being said, but it looked like he was telling Frank where a place was.

"So? What'd he say?" Gerard asked when Frank returned.

"He said there's not one far from here. Just a few blocks down that way. You good with that, Billie?"

Billie nodded and stuffed the rest of the stuff in his back pack. "Show us the way."

Frank smiled and led them to a nearby motel. "Well, here we are. Not the nicest place, but it'll work."

Hayley nodded and went up to the man at the front desk. "Hi, sir," she greeted. "My friends and I need a place to stay for a few nights."

He nodded. "How long, exactly?"

"I'd say...four nights?"

"Okay." He typed some stuff on his computer. "That'll be three-fifty."

She dug some money out of her bag. "Here you go."

"All set," he said. He turned around and handed her a room key. "You're in room 217. Enjoy your stay!"

"Thanks!" She turned and nodded at the boys. They followed her upstairs into the room they ordered.

"Not bad," Billie said, putting his stuff down.

"So, what're the sleeping arrangements?" Tre asked almost immediately.

"How about Gerard and Frank in one bed and you and Billie in the other?" Hayley suggested.

Gerard shrugged. "Works for me."

The others nodded.

"It's pretty late. We should sleep," Billie said. He took off his shirt and jeans and laid in one of the beds (he still had underwear on, don't worry).

"I'm tired, too," Frank said. He changed into actual pj's and climbed into the other bed.

Gerard and Tre copied without a word.

Hayley unrolled her sleeping bag and changed. She laid down and closed eyes. "Good night, guys."

"Good night."

"Night."

"Smell ya later."

"Frank, be quiet."

"Hehe."

Hayley chuckled and went to sleep.

It was a good day.
