-Billie's POV-

"We're not gonna get stuck again, are we?" Frank asked.

"No, no we'll be fine," Billie answered. "But even if we do get stuck, the generals will know how to fix it."

Frank nodded as he set his Traveller. He glanced up at Billie, who glanced at Tre, who glanced at Gerard, who glanced back at Frank. They pushed the button and they were off.

'Thirty' years later

"I...I think we made it," Billie said with a relieved sigh.

"Let's go find DeLonge and Hoppus," Frank said as he started making his way to the building.

They noticed Gerard wasn't with them, but Billie assumed he had just appeared inside instead.

"Hang on," he murmured. He looked around to see what the outside world looked like. He'd never seen it before. He'd only ever seen stuff outside the building whenever he time-traveled. And that was only once. Billie smiled a little at the memory.

"It's so...desolate," Tre said.

He was right. It looked like an alien planet. It was pretty much all sand. There were no clouds in the sky, and the sun was low on the western horizon. There were a few cactus here and there, but other than that and the military building, there was nothing. It was barren and empty. Billie wondered what happened to it.

"Let's go," Frank said. He put his hand on Billie's shoulder.

"Is this where we've been living our whole lives?" he asked. "Wasted away in that shithole of a home? Sure, this place isn't much better, but it could be. If those dumb people up there actually cared." Billie looked up to the sky. "Hey Hayley! If you're up there, then why is this place so shitty? What happened?" he yelled before looking back at the ground. "I always imagined this place being so much prettier. I would see animals running around. Bugs flying to flowers. Plants growing here and there."

"I did, too," Frank said. "Let's go."

Billie nodded and they went to the big military building.

"You're back already?" Hoppus asked when they got to his office. "Er-I mean, good job. You've done well." He stood up and politely took the Capacitor from Frank.

"Thank you, sir," Frank responded.

"Um," Hoppus began. "You two didn't...see anyone else did you? Anyone who may have disappeared?"

Billie's heart rate sped up a little. "No, sir," he swallowed.

"Okay. Well, you're dismissed. If you need anything, you know where to find me."

They nodded and left the room. Billie let out a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding.

"Holy shit," Frank said. "Was he talking about Ch- I mean...you-know-who?"

Tre nodded. "Definitely."

"Wait," Billie stopped in the hallway. "Why didn't he ask about Hayley?"

Frank and Tre looked at each other.

"Should we...call Hayley and tell her?" Tre asked.

"No. We don't want to worry her," Billie answered. "Let's just act like it never happened."

"Alright..." Frank said, cautiously. "Wanna go get something to eat after we put all our stuff away?"

Tre and Billie nodded. "Yeah, sounds good."

Billie made his way to his dorm and started unpacking. But he couldn't stop thinking about the amazing adventure he'd just had.

Wow. I mean, that was...that was awesome. I can't believe that all just happened. I hope it'll happen again.

First of all, I finally got out of that fucking cell. I mean, I had to go back so I wouldn't get caught, but in the end, it was definitely worth it.

Heh, 'in the end.' I hope Hayley's happy with Mike and Chester. I'm sure she is. She's pretty much always happy around new people.

I wonder what was wrong with the outside world. I mean, what the hell was that? Why was it so...shitty? We're still in Battery City...

Billie heard an engine outside. He got up and looked out the tiny crack he had of a window. Luckily, he was on the bottom level. Outside, there was a car with four people in it. He couldn't see who they were very well.

One of the people saw him staring. Billie's heartrate sped up a little, but he didn't look away.

The person in the car said something to the others and then got out of the window and walked up to the window.

Their hair was a bright red and they had a blue jacket on. Their face was covered by a red bandana and goggles.

"Who are you?" they asked.

Billie could just barely hear them. "Uh...I'm Billie."

The person pulled their bandana down and he could see them smiling. Not a weird smile. They seemed genuinely happy. "Hi, Billie. Do ya know me?"

Billie shook his head. "Um...no?"

They pulled their goggles forward off their face, making Billie's heart speed up a little bit more. They then put them on top of his head.

It was Gerard. He looked much older. "I've been looking for you," he said.

"Wait but you-you're..."

Gerard looked a little worried. "I've got an idea. You just stay here for a few hours. That's it. When I come back, you'll know it's been done, okay?"

Billie was a little worried, but he knew whatever Gerard was planning, it would work out. He was always good at that. "Okay."
