Rey clambered through her room, grabbing stuff and jamming it into a large black backpack. Various janglers and keychains hung of the sides of it.
"Notebook, check. Binder, check. Pencils, check. Locker decorations, check!"
She finished off her checklist and grinned, zipping it up and walking downstairs.
She had moved in with her Aunt in America after her parents, who lived in London, died. That would have been 12 years ago, when she was 3. Her aunt had been living in New York for a while but moved to a small town in Ohio after last school year.
Normally, when heading to a new school, you would be nervous. However Rey was not. She was just hopeful. For the new friends she would make, the much newer complex, and the top notch school program.
She grabbed a banana and peeled it, taking a large bite. She pulled her sleeve back and glanced at her watch. She had 15 more minutes.
Finishing her breakfast, she kissed her aunt Maz goodbye and headed out the door to her bus stop.
The bus stop just happened to be right in front of her house, because of the rural area where her new school was.
The bus just came straight up to your house.~~
Two bright yellow lights came around the corner of the twisting road. They glared through the dark foggy morning air. Rey stood up and smiled at the driver. He gave her a half-assed smile back.
Who could blame him? He works half the day driving a bunch of smelly, loud, teenaged kids around.
Rey walked onto the bus and searched for a seat. Almost all of the seats were packed with 2, if not 3 people. Scanning over the crowd, she noticed one seat with an empty spot. There was a girl sitting in it, but she was looking down at her phone. Hopefully, she would be nice to sit by.
Rey sat down, smiling awkwardly. The girl had black hair, almond eyes, and appeared to be quite short. She rotated slightly in the seat to talk to Rey.
"Hey! You must be new here, I'm Rose."
Rey grinned and held out her hand for a shake.
"I'm Rey.""What classes do you have?" Rose asked.
"I'd have to double check. Lemme grab my schedule."
Rey pulled her backpack in front of her and rummaged for her schedule. He found it, pulled it out, and handed it to Rose. Rose pulled her own out and compared them.
"Oh cool!" Rose said, "The only periods we dont have together are 5th and 7th. We even have homeroom together!"
"Well I'm glad I'll have a friend! Hopefully I'll find some one to talk to in the others."
The bus was pulling into the parking lot. When the bus came to a stop and the doors opened up with a soft psssshhhhh, several kids sped out. Rey let the hurriers run past before she pushed into the very unorthodox line.
It was difficult but both girls managed to get out of the bus. They walked to the entrance.
"Oh!" Rose said suddenly, "I forgot to ask. What's your emotion?"
"Hope. And yours?"
"Joy. Mine's pretty basic, but I really like yours!"
~~
The girls walked to homeroom together. Rose had to help Rey, since it was a large confusing school.
They got to home room and took their seats. Two boys walked in, pointed to Rose, smiled and sat next to her.
"Hey Rose," the tall darker skinned one said.
