Chapter 3 - Petting Zoo

"Well," Rey started, "He's tall, black hair, brown eyes..."

"Keep talking."

"He's an anger. Most people don't like him, but he's nice to me. As nice as he can be, anyway."

"Do you know his last name?"

"Solo."

"Oh! Han's boy!"

"You know him?" Rey was stunned.

"No. But I know his father."

"Oh," She nervously laughed, "...cool."

"I can't wait to see you in the play! I'm sure you'll be great!" Maz gave her a pat the shoulder.

"Yeah."

Rey walked up the stairs to her bedroom and flopped herself on her bed face down. She took a deep breath and slung her backpack off her shoulder, leaning over the bed to dig in the pockets for her phone.

Something in the water bottle pocket caught her eye. A folded edge of paper. Rey pulled it out and unfolded it.

Rey smiled and pulled her phone out of the front pocket. She typed Ben's number into contacts and labeled it
"Romeo".

She quickly typed Ben a message.

Hey!

Then she sat her phone on her nightstand and grabbed the TV remote. She turned it on, flicked through the channels, but found nothing, so she turned on Disney+. She scrolled through and clicked The Clone Wars.

She watched a couple episodes and eventually paused it, opening spotify on her phone.

She pulled out her sketchbook and pencils. Tapping her pencil to the edge of the paper, she finally thought of something to draw. She'd never really liked drawing people, but she'd make an exception.

She lifted her hand up and started drawing, every once in a while stopping to erase a stray line.

Her phone buzzed, making her music lower in volume and Rey jump. She pulled her book off her lap and set it beside her in bed, placing her pencil case on top.

It was a text from Ben.

Hey.

Rey scoffed. Did she really expect better? Whenever somebody responded with that, it basically cut off all conversation from Rey's end. Luckily, she didn't have to say anything, three phasing dots showed up on Ben's side of the conversation.

I need to know something.

Ok! What is it? You can always ask me anything.

Have you met your soulmate?

No... Why?

... I feel like I'm the only one who hasn't.

I get how you feel. All my friends have too.

I don't exactly have friends, but everyone I know has.

Aren't we friends?

Idk.
