JACK
A pleasant aroma were permeating the air as soon as Jack woke up.
Coffee. It was coffee.
Jack flung the covers off himself, swung his legs over the edge and got out of bed. He pulled on a shirt as he made his way down into the kitchen.
The coffee pot was still on when Jack walked over to it. The enticing brown liquid called to him as he reached for a mug and poured himself some.
After adding some cream and sugar, he took a sip and quietly looked around his penthouse.
It was a quiet. A little too quiet.
The thought donning on him, Jack walked over to the cabinet and got a scoop of Easton's food before bringing it over to his dish. Seeing it was already full, he stood back up and brought the scoop of food back to the bag.
Jack looked around and called out, "Easton!"
Where was he? It wasn't like Easton to not come whenever he was called. Then the thought donned on him.
Jack made his way over to the laundry room only to see Easton's leash was missing.
Walking back over to the kitchen, he picked up his coffee. If Sophia took Easton out for a walk, they should be back any minute now.

Thirty minutes later, Jack were lounging back on his couch, t.v remote in hand, and the t.v playing some rerun of Live P.D.
"Hey." Sophia announced from the front doorway. "We're back."
Easton came barreling up to greet Jack.
"Where were you?"
Sophia shrugged. "I took Easton out for a walk." She held out the dog leash before placing it down on the coffee table.
Jack stood and grabbed the leash before walking past, "you could have at least told me where you were going."
Sophia scoffed. "Okay. Dad."
Jack turned quick on his heel. "No! You can't just take my dog, my official police dog, out whenever you want."
"Um, I didn't think it was that big a deal...and also, I thought you said Easton was fired."
Jack rolled his eyes. "He's still a police dog." He paused for a moment. "Just let me know."

"Where you go anyways?" Jack asked. They were now in the kitchen, Jack fixing himself a cup of coffee.
"Doesn't matter." Pause. "Do you know the woman that lives on the top floor of this building?"
"In passing." Jack answered, then, "why do you ask?"
"I think I know her."
Jack was stirring sugar into his coffee with a spoon and stopped. "That's great. What's you find out?"
"Nothing."
