SOPHIA
"Cops...have...balls?" Cate spoke looking perplexed right after Sophia was finished reiterating her plans with Jack this Saturday.
"Yes! Big ones," Sophia confirmed than added, "and they apparently come at least once a year."
They were hanging out and chatting. Some consignment shop in the area made for the perfect backdrop.
Sophia continued to browse through a rack that offered a variety of different blouses. All varying in style and color.
Soon she spoke up, offering, "so...what's it like being a bartender?"
Cate glanced up from the opposite side of the clothing rack. She smiled, undoubtedly happy someone took interest in her. "It's not what I expected."
Sophia narrowed her eyes, continuing to browse through the rack. "Is that good or bad?"
"I'd say it's a little of both."
"How about you tell me something good first?"
"Well..." Cate started. "You do meet a lot of interesting characters as a bartender."
"Good?"
"Some good. Some not so much." Cate explained. "Sometimes the occasional pervy old guy who can't take a hint or the occasional belligerent drunk."
"Sounds like it always keeps you on your toes."
"It does." Cate leaned in conspiratorialy. "You know my manager Ron and also the owner."
"I met him once." Sophia stated.
"Lucky for me he is real easy-going and sometimes if a customer just needs to calm down a little he lets his bartenders handle it themselves."
"What does that mean?"
"We spray them with the water hose!" Cate giggled. "Kind of like that one scene from that movie, Coyote Ugly."
"Have I seen that?" Sophia mused.
"Of course. The last time we had movie night we watched it."
Sophia smiled, happy to be getting a few details about what her life was like.
Then, all at once, her vision blurred slightly and she stilled.
"Popcorn, incoming!" Cate announced as she set a large bowl of buttery popcorn down on the coffee table in front of them. "I can't believe you've never seen this movie, you clearly are missin--"
"Yo, Cate!" A man's voice yelled, cutting Cate off mid-sentence. "Your car is blocking me in. You going to move it."
"Ugh! But I literally just sat down!" Cate explained. "And I don't want to."
"Well what am I going to do?" The man asked, clearly not having it. "I have to get to the office."
