Chresanto’s POV

I went against my plan of resisting Janelle for a few more days. When we were at the airport and she was about to leave, when she had that sorrowful look in her eyes, I couldn’t do anything but kiss her.

I’m happy I did. If I hadn’t, I would spend a long time regretting it. It felt so good to kiss her after such a long time that I can’t stop thinking about it. I called her about twenty times earlier this morning when she was supposed to have gotten home already, but she didn’t pick up.

I pulled out my phone and dialed her number again.

No answer.

“Who you calling?” Craig asked, seeing my puzzled expression after hanging up the phone.

“Janelle….she seems to be busy though.” I replied. I lied back on the bed with my hands under my head and took a deep breath. I needed to relax. Janelle was probably just having fun with her family, telling them how everything went. Nothing was wrong.

“Have you spoken to Bianca yet? I think her phone’s off.” Prince said to me. I shook my head.

“Well, we’ll just wait for them to call back. In the meantime, I need to relax before another concert comes around. Wanna get lunch?” Ray asked us.

“I’m up for it,” I said, “but I’m not buying.”

“Same here. You and Prod will split it.” Prince agreed quickly.

“That ain’t right,” Prod laughed.

But we agreed to get out the house. We needed it, especially me. I was starting to get that feeling that something was wrong, and I would do anything to ignore it.

Instead of eating in at a restaurant, we picked up McDonald’s and headed for the mall. Of course, there was the whole long and tiring process of giving out autographs and taking pictures. But when that was done, I still felt energized.

We had been walking around the mall for a while, accommodating Prince’s needs to stop in every punk rock store we passed. Then we spotted a store that seemed to have clothing for all of us.

We walked into the store just as a loud annoying song was ending. Then another one started, with a familiar sound and voice…

“Is that our song?” Prod asked.

“Yup, that’s the song!” Prince smiled. He walked into the store, dancing to the song while doing so. I laughed and followed him.

Using almost all the money I had, I picked up a few unnecessary clothes and got out the store before the rest of the guys. I had a missed call from Janelle. I immediately called her back.

“Hello?” A soft voice whispered.

“Janelle?”

“Shh! Lower your voice. Do you have your iPod with you?”

“Yeah, I do. Why? Is everything ok?”

“Yes…no. Just have your iPod out. I’m calling you from Facetime.”

Before I could reply, there was a soft click and the call had ended. I quickly pulled my iPod out from my back pocket and waited a few seconds. In no time, it started to ring and Janelle’s face showed up.

I clicked pick up.

“Janelle, what’s wrong?” I asked. She was sitting on the floor in a corner in her room. The worried expression on her face was one I’d never seen. Dammit, I had been hoping that the gut feeling I had been having about something bad happening would be wrong.
