"𝐇𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐈 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐎𝐋𝐃 𝐘𝐎𝐔 that I hate calculus?" Anne complained as she stared at the slate in front of her. Adelaine shook her head with a soft smile, looking at her friend from the corner of her eyes while she kept working on the assignment Mr. Phillips had given them a couple of minutes ago.

"Yes, you did, many, many times." She remember her, earning a loud groan from Anne who instantly let herself fall to the side, placing her head over Adelaine's shoulder. The brunette didn't seem faced by it since she kept scribbling over her slate, completely concentrated on the exercise. "You should finish that." Adelaine recommended, pointing towards Anne's desk with her head.

Anne sighed loudly, straightening her back and grabbing one of the chalks before imitating Adelaine's actions.

"What has you so serious lately?" Anne asked, finally letting the words she had been keeping inside from the last couple of days come out.

Adelaine shrugged, not really feeling comfortable with talking about it at school, or anywhere for that matter. She was still processing the fact that the fire that she thought killed her parents all those years ago hadn't been an accident. The idea of someone entering her house with idea of killing them in such a horrible way send a shiver down her spine, specially because she knew who did it. And explaining that to Anne would come with explaining everything about Frederick did, and that included the gold business that she still hadn't told anyone about.

One things she was sure is that she was tired of keeping so many secrets, it felt like London all over again.

"I guess I'm just tired." Adelaine said, not giving it much important, yet Anne didn't seem fully convinced with her words.

Before Anne could say anything about it the door opened abruptly as Sebastian made his way inside. Adelaine frowned softly at his sudden appearance, her eyes turning to Gilbert who seemed as confused as she was. He stood up from his chair, quickly turning towards his friend with a concerned expression.

"Good morning, pardon me. I need to have a word with Gilbert." Bash rambled while he stared at Mr. Phillips, who seemed completely annoyed by black man interrupting his class.

"I'd thank you to stay in the cloakroom." Mr. Phillips added with a judging tone before Gilbert walked away from his desk and towards Bash, who had a tired expression on his face.

Adelaine's frowned deepened when the two disappeared behind the wall. She could hear their whispers from her seat yet she couldn't manage to fully comprehend what they were saying. Adelaine turned on her place to look at Anne that was staring at the back of the room also with a confused expression.
