GILBERT PRESSED HIS HAND against the middle of Adelaine's back, trying not to lose her as they moved through the sea of people at the train station. Adelaine turned her head backwards, meeting his eyes with a smile before taking hold of his hand and pulling him forward. She scanned the station carefully, squinting her eyes slightly until she found the person she was looking for.

Anne's bright red hair stood out in the crowd, making her visible and easy to find. The pair of teenagers walked closely to one other, their hands tied together between them while they made their way towards the Cuthbert family. Marilla pointed towards them, causing Anne to turn around and meet her best friend with a smile. Her eyes were gleaming in excitement and, as soon as Adelaine and Gilbert were close enough, Anne threw her arms around Adelaine's neck, laughing loudly in her ear and making the brunette lose her balance. Gilbert quickly grabbed both girls by their shoulders to steady them, an amused smile on his face while he watched the display of affection the two were hugging.

"Nice to see you too, Anne!" Adelaine said in between laughter, patting the girl's back in a sign for her to let go before they both fell to the ground.

Anne pulled herself away, giving the brunette an all-teeth smile. "Oh, I am just so excited about our adventure today! I can't wait to visit the orphanage and find out about my biological family."

That was one of their main goals of their trip to Charlottetown. Anne was going to meet Cole at Aunt Jo's house and travel with him to the Saint Alban's Orphanage, the place where Anne had spent most of her life. The red haired girl was determined in finding out more information about her family line, a curiosity that seemed to appear after the assignment given by Miss Stacy.

Adelaine understood Anne's motivation, now more than ever. Ever since finding out about the truth about her father, there was a sense of curiosity, a need to figure out the truth. So, yes. She knew how Anne was feeling, and she was going to support her best friend during her quest, no matter what.

"Matthew, give her another penny for food just in case." Marilla's voice brought Adelaine back to reality, her words directed towards her younger brother, which caused him to start going through his bag with a frown on his face. "You know what she's like when she's on one of her adventures. She forgets to eat and, before you know it, sh-sh-she's weakened and... face down in a ditch!"

Gilbert raised an eyebrow at the older woman's words and Adelaine chuckled softly when Anne gasped dramatically, her wide eyes darting from her adoptive family member to her friends.

"Marilla! I... I never did that!" She was quick to correct, her head shaking frantically and the braids of her hair moving with it.

Adelaine laughed softly, amused by the entire situation and Anne's dramatic reaction. "Don't worry, Mss. Cuthbert, I'll remind her to eat as much as I can."
