When She Speakes

I have to start of with how did you come up with the idea of the book, making it come to life?

I thought writing about a girl that doesn't speak would be a great challenge. The majority of my stories are 90% dialogue and 10% description. I tried to describe Star's emotions without using dialogue and that was a challenge in itself! And it's a been a great experience! So, I encourage other writers to step out of their comfort zone! 

Is it hard writing about Star because she is this empty, sad and depressing girl?

When She Speaks is when one of the hardest novels I have ever had to write. Every chapter is a challenge to write! Star is frustrated, lonely, and she's sick of feeling like an outcast! I've had so many young girls tell me that the story reminds them of their own lives. Because I think we all have felt alone and some of us have felt like the 'outcast' of the school! When I try to get inside of Star's head, I remember all the times I've felt alone and I try to make her feelings as real as possible. But, I think everyone will be able to relate to her story.

Why is it that you started off the book with then at a cafeteria and not show us the first time she looks at him and he looks at her?

I just had a vision of Star and James meeting in the cafeteria. The first chapter is my least favorite and I'll probably eventually change it! 

Where is her scar exactly?

The scar is on her left cheek! 

Why is it that Star's mother doesn't approve of Thoma's fiance?

 I think Star's mom is having a difficult time letting her Son go. But, I think she's worried that her son might be marrying the wrong girl. But, that is really up to the readers to decide!

What is your favorite chapter so far and why?

When James takes Star to watch the meteorite shower! It was just a very fun chapter to write! However, I haven't begin to write the fun chapters!

Who is your favorite character and why?

James is my favorite character and I can't say why! ; ) You'll have to find out for yourself!

Can you tell us what you have installed for the next following chapters?

I have a lot of surprises in store for the next chapters! But, I'm not giving away my secrets just yet! 

Are you going to tell us what happened between Star and her father?

 I think I'll wait a while to reveal the biggest secret of all!

Were you expecting to get that much readers, votes and even comments?

 No. I didn't think the story would attract so many readers! I wrote the story for myself and I'm very lucky to have so many loyal fans!

Why is it that her brother hates her so much? If it is to do with her father, her mother had probably forgiven her and moved on why hasn't he? 

Hmm, why do you think Thomas hates his own sister so much? 

Will you show us any flashbacks about what happened when she first went to school and she didn't speak, how she was before her fathers death and even what happened during her fathers death?

 I believe in writing in the moment, so there will be very few flashbacks. But, I am planning at least one flashback to the past.

Will she eventually speak?

Well, the story is called 'When She Speaks.' 

Will her relationship with James progress or not?

Only time will tell!
