The sun shined through the curtains, lighting my face. I groaned as I realized it's time to wake up. Wait. My alarm didn't ring. I got off my bed and went over to my phone, looking at the time. Fuck. It's 9:57 am. I missed first and second period classes. And now I'm late to third. I ran to my closet and rummaged through it. I put on a plain black t-shirt, red velvet sweats and my black converse. I quickly brushed my hair and put it in a side braid. I gathered my backpack and books, running out the door, slamming it behind me. I made it to my car and drove to school.

I heard the band playing already. Holy fuck. I ran inside and went to the instruments room, grabbing my trombone. I walked past Bethany waving at her. I sat down on the empty chair. I was panting from all the running around I did. As soon as I caught my breath, I started playing. "Come on Marshall. Give it more power." Mr. Allen said to Marshall. Marshall played louder. As we finished playing, Bethany turned around and said, "Hey, Alex. Why late to band?" I shrugged, setting down my trombone.

"Okay. I might've forgotten to put my alarm." I said looking at her. I looked at her outfit and realized that we're both matching. "Unexpected matching." I said to her. She looked at me and laughed. "Alex. Play that last note." Mr. Allen said. I picked up my trombone and played the last note. It didn't sound as well as it should. "More lip on it." He said. I tried it again, with his instruction. Surprise, surprise, it sounds right. "Now, Robert." He said.

"I love that. Now flutes and clarinets. Trombones, as well. Measure 27. Ready go." He said. We played the measure, but someone messed up and he stopped us. "Nate, fix that. Take 5 minutes everybody." He told all of us, as he walked into his office. I started talking to my section about the notes. I saw Marshall walking towards me, or so I thought. He actually walked past me, to Josh. I shrugged and turned back to the other trombone players. "Is it this position?" Nate asked Robert, instead of asking me. Oh well.

After the five minutes were up, Mr. Allen came back from his office. Marshall quickly ran back to his section and took his drumsticks in his hands. Mr. Allen took his baton and started moving it. "From the top, everybody. 1..2..1. 2. Ready go." He said, swaying his baton to the beat. I heard a wrong note from somewhere. Mr. Allen stopped again and pointed to Bethany. "Bethany, fix that. What's that? An F#?" He asked her and she said, "Umm, yeah. Sorry, I-" One of the trumpets interrupted her, "Play right or don't play at all. You know what? Just don't play." She nodded. "Shut up, Derek. At least, she plays better than you." Mr. Allen said to him. She plays really good. It's hard because she's the only bari player.

Brunch...

I walked out of the band room and saw Bethany talking to Marshall. She had a smile on her face. "Hey babe. Hi Bethany." I said. Bethany smiled and said "Hey Alex, I should uh go. I suppose you guys want to be alone. I have matters to attend to anyway. Have fun!" She smiled, once again, walking away. I sat down where she was sitting before and looked at Marshall. "Babe, guess what?" I said to him. He chuckled and said "what is it, Alex?" I groaned and pouted.

He raised his right eyebrow. "You're supposed to guess. Omg." I said and he shrugged. "Fine. I forgot to put my alarm last night and I missed my first two classes. I came late to band and yeah." I said to him. He laughed. "You think it's funny?" I asked, in a serious tone. He nodded taking my hand in his. I chuckled and lied my head on his shoulder. "You know, high school is almost over. There's only a few months left." I said.

"Actually there's 3 and a half more months. I can't believe it. Anyways, have you got me anything for my birthday?" He asks, grinning widely. Shit. I forgot. What would be a nice gift for him? "I have something. But it's a surprise. You'll just have to wait." I said, as the perfect gift appeared into my mind. Will he freak out or not? I don't even know anything about this. Well maybe I do, a little. My heart started racing. Omg. No. Alex, stop. I don't even know if that would be a good gift from me to him. His birthday is this Thursday. Wait a minute. Today's Tuesday, tomorrow's Wednesday and the day after is Thursday. I only have today and tomorrow to figure everything out. I'm excited.

"Okay, this better be a good one." He said. I lifted my head up and looked into his eyes. His eyes are so beautiful. They're brown, but a different kind of brown. They shine in the light. I love it when he squeezes his eyes shut and his teeth are cracking a smile, when he laughs. I love his laugh. It's so amazing. When he sings, oh my gosh, I swear my heart melts. But those are a few of the many things I love him for. "Marshall, I love you." I said, kissing him. The bell rang. "I love you too, Alex. See you afterschool." He said, with a smile. I kissed him once more. I saw him walk further and further away to class. Gosh, I don't think my love for him will ever end.

I'm excited. Omg. Aren't Alex and Marshall so adorable? Omg. Malex all the way. Next chapter will be up soon. Hopefully you loved this first chapter.
