Chapter 27

Derek's POV

Today is Moma's birthday!

I know it's only been a month since Quinn was born but i think i'm ready to take the next step with Moma. She's been visiting a lot and i just want her to come live with me since Jaden moved out.

I asked Jenny to babysit Quinn for the night so that Moma and I could go out for her birthday. I wanted to take her to a restaurant but we do that all the time so I'll just spice things up a bit.

I went to the mall to get a few things for tonight. I bought a dress, jewelry and some heels for Moma as well as a few things for Quinn.

While I was looking for some clothes, i got a text from Moma.

Wifey😻: Hey baby. I just wanted to know what time you're picking Quinn and I up today.
Me: I'm coming around 2pm, then we'll drop Quinn off at Jenny's house.
Wifey😻: Why is she going to Jenny's house.
Me: Because we're going out.
Wifey😻: Why are we going out?
Me: Baby... it's your birthday.
Wifey😻: wait, i completely forgot🤦🏽‍♀️
Me: How could you forget your own birthday?
Wifey😻: I've just been so forgetful, Quinn keeps me up all night and all the studying that i've been doing... it's got me preoccupied.
Me: It's okay baby. tonight, you're gonna relax.

Moma's POV

I've been so stressed out lately, with Quinn keeping me up all night and having to study for my finals. It's just all too much.

After Derek reminded me that today was my birthday, everything that has happened this year finally sunk in. To think that just a few months ago i was with that lame ass nigga Eric, and now I have a daughter.

I finally got up from bed and took a shower. I walked downstairs and found my mom playing with Quinn.
"Here comes the birthday girl! Say happy birthday mommy" she said while putting Quinn in the air.

I walked to them, gave my mom a hug and took Quinn from her.
"Hey sweety. Why are you up so early?" I said to Quinn while kissing her chubby cheeks. 

I grabbed her pacifier and gave it to her.
"So... how does it feel to be eighteen."
Mom said with the biggest smile on her face.
"Doesn't feel any different, i guess."
I honestly thought I would be more excited. My whole life i've been dreaming of my 18th birthday, but now i'm just not feeling it.

"My baby is finally an adult..." Tears started to fill her eyes and she moved closer to me "It feels like just yesterday you came out of my vagina."
"Eew Mom, no."
"What you saying eew for? You pushed Quinn out of your vagina didn't you?"
She laughed and walked to the counter to grab her keys.

"I'll see you tomorrow okay? Bye pumpkin" she waved at Quinn and walked out of the house. I decided to make a quick brunch since Derek was coming soon. I made some toast and grabbed some orange juice.

Quinn fell asleep in my arms, then I placed her in her crib. I sat on the couch and watched Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

A few minutes into the episode, i heard a car pull up in the driveway. I walked to the door and saw Derek carrying a bunch of stuff.
"What's all this?" i asked and tried to help him carry a few bags.
"Just some stuff for you and Quinn."

I gave him a 'really' look and he shrugged. He started packing some of the things he bought for Quinn and put my stuff in my room.
"Okay it's time to go."

He carried Quinn from her crib and put her in the baby seat. We drove to Jenny's house and Derek gave her a couple of bags, which was odd since she's only going to be there for one night.
