Chapter 2

"Moma! I told you to stop fighting with people at school! Now you're suspended!" I could hear the disappointment in her voice. I just stood there, with nothing to say. My phone dinged.

Jasmine🙄: My parents are charging you for assault. See you in court bitch.

As if things couldn't get any worse. "Jasmine's going to press charges against me."
"Moma you can't keep doing this. I have to balance you, paying the rent, groceries and two jobs"
"I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to, if she didn't bring up mom then I wouldn't have done anything" I felt a lump in my throat and just started crying. Jenny pulled me in for a hug. "I know it's hard Moma, but you have to find a way to channel your anger." We sat in complete silence. "I have an idea, let's have a movie night. I'll make your favorite." I immediately stopped crying. She knew that food would lift my spirits.
I helped her with the cooking and prepared the dinner table. After eating dinner I made popcorn, got some candy and turned on the TV. We decided to watch "Isn't it Romantic" even though I hated Rom-coms. Then we heard a harsh knock on the door. The fuck?

"I know you're home Moma! Open this door before I bust it open"
"Monica!! You're back!" Monica and I have been bestfriends since kindergarten. Even though we were so different, we still became friends. "Are you gonna let me in or what bitch" We laughed. She's only been gone for a week but it felt like years to me.
"Moma! I have news for you." She grabbed my popcorn. "So you see how I was in California for the week. Well I met up with this guy and damn! He's rich, he's good looking and... he's got a big D!! I nearly choked on my skittles. She's always had no filter. She doesn't care what anyone else thinks about her. I wish I had her confidence. I'm just the quiet girl that everyone's scared of, ironic huh.
"But that's not the news I have for you. When I was at his house, I saw Eric!"
"Wait, what!" Eric's the guy I've been dating for a month. I've lost interest in him because he's so boring and uptight. I want a guy that I can be comfortable and myself around.

I know, I know. The reason why I say he's boring is because that's all we ever do. Argue, kiss and cuddle. I wanted more than that. I wanted a real relationship.
"I think I wanna break up with him."
"Finally!"
"Wait, what do you mean finally?"
"Moma I can see how your mood changes when I mention him. You don't really like him."
"You know me so well."
We laughed and finished watching the movie. Jenny had already went to sleep because she had to wake up extra early for work tomorrow. I saw Monica slowly falling asleep. Perfect. "Monica. I beat up Jasmine and now I'm on suspension."
She jumped up. "What the fuck Moma. Why didn't you tell me earlier?" I just laughed at her and went upstairs to go sleep. "Goodnight Monica!"
