Chapter 25

Moma's POV

I haven't been myself ever since Monica's funeral. I don't talk as much as I used to. I have sleepless nights. I don't even eat as much.

I only leave my room when I have my checkups at the hospital. I haven't been able to study and I have my finals next week.

The fact that Monica's gone and I didn't even get a chance to say goodbye to her...

While I was drowning in my thoughts, I heard a knock on the door.
"Hey baby." Derek walked in holding some snacks and a small gift bag.
I sat up and put my hoodie over my head covering my messy hair.
"Hey" I forced a smile.

He sat next to me and gave me a hug. He then grabbed the snacks and switched on the tv.
"What do you wanna watch today?"
I shrugged and ate some chips...

Derek's POV

I decided to buy Moma something to cheer her up. She's been in this depressed state for more than a month now and it's not good for her and especially not for the baby.

I drove to a gas station to get some chips, candy and chocolate. When I got back into the car I got a phone call from Jenny.
"Hello."
"Hey, I just wanted to check if you got the gift."
I smiled staring at the small gift bag on the passenger seat.
"Yeah I got it. Is everything else set for tomorrow?"
"Yep, I just need to get a few more things from Moma's mom."
"Okay. We'll talk later."
"Bye"

I drove to Moma's house and noticed Moma's car wasn't in the driveway. I walked into the house carrying all the things I bought for her.

I went upstairs and knocked on her door then opened it slightly.
She was laying on her bed, staring into space.
"Hey baby." I smiled at her and put the snacks on the bed and the gift on the floor. Hopefully she doesn't ask about it.
She sat up and put her hoodie over her head.
"Hey." She smiled slightly.
I gave her a hug and switched on the TV. Since she didn't know what to watch today I played the movie "After" because she's always wanted to watch it with me.
I saw a slight grin creep onto her face and she moved closer to me and cuddled into my arms. I got some licorice and as I was about to eat it she grabbed it from my hand and laughed. Gosh I missed hearing her laugh.

After watching the movie I could see that she looked a little bit happier than she'd been this month. We decided to order a pizza since we were both too lazy to cook.

While waiting for the pizza, Moma decided to go take a shower and I texted Jenny to tell her that Moma was a bit happier now...

About 30 minutes later Moma came downstairs looking absolutely beautiful. Even though she was just wearing some sweats, she just looked...alive. I know it's weird for me to say that but Moma hasn't been herself in a long time. I'm really happy to see her slowly coming back.

She walked to me with a smile on her face.
"I missed you so much!"
"You were gone for literally 30 minu-"
"Shh, I'm talking to the pizza." I laughed and watched her put 4 slices of pizza on her plate.
You would think the baby is making her eat like this, but yet again she hasn't been eating a lot lately.

The next day...

Moma's POV

"Baby, get up." I felt someone rub my belly.
I rubbed my eyes and saw Derek laying with a smile on his face. He kissed my belly and got up from the bed.
"Come on. Go take a shower and get dressed. We're gonna be late."
"Late? Late for what?"
"For your doctor's appointment, duh."
"Did you just say 'duh'?" I laughed "You need to stop spending so much time around Jenny."

I got up from bed, brushed my teeth and took a shower. When I got out of the shower, there was a dress, some flats and jewelry. This was way too much for a doctor's appointment but I put the outfit on anyway.

I walked downstairs and Derek was also dressed up. Why so much for an appointment? We got into the car and I ate some cookies that Mom came with last night.
I started rubbing my belly and felt a tiny kick from Quinn. I took Derek's hand placed it where I felt the kicks. He looked at me with a smile on his face and kissed my hand.
I noticed we were headed to Jenny's house.
"Why are we going to Jenny's house?"
"She asked to come with us... She wants to see the Ultra Sound and everything else."

I shrugged and he parked in the driveway. Derek walked to my side of the car and helped me get out of the car. We walked to the door and it looked like there was no one home. I opened the door and switched on the lights.

"SURPRISE!!!" a bunch of people jumped up and blew on some paper blowouts.
"The fuck guys! I'm 7 months pregnant! You can't be scaring me like that."
Jenny walked to me while laughing and gave me a hug.

So they planned this whole thing for me and I didn't even know half of the people there. They bought me and Quinn some gifts, we played a couple of games and danced.

"Okay guys, it's time."
I looked at Jenny with a confused look on my face. Derek walked to me and took my hand. He led me to the middle of the room. Some lady handed me a toy bow and arrow and I was told to shoot all of the balloons in one shot.

I put up the bow and arrow and aimed at the balloons. I was expecting to see some candy pop out of the balloons, but instead pink powder spewed out.
"It's a girl!" Everyone shouted.

Derek pulled me in for a hug and tears fell down for my face. He pulled away.
"Baby, are you okay?" he said while wiping my tears.
I sniffed and looked at him "I-I'm just happy. I can't believe this is happening."
"Aaw baby it's okay. I'm happy too."

I got onto my toes and pecked his lips.
"I love you so much Derek."
He had a surprised look on his face but it eased into a grin.
"I love you too Moma."
