I shook hands with him and smiled.
“Graduate sya as ECE in the same school where Grace is schooling.”
“Whoa! What a coincidence! So, Grace, you know about him?”
“Yea. I guess dad. But not that much.”
“Oh, good. Atleast you’re not that moron about your fiancé.”
Bigla akong nabulunan sa narinig ko.
“S…Sir? What did you said just now?”
“Oh, Mr. Real, your son doesn’t know it yet?”
“You spilled it too early Mr. Ching. I was planning to make this a surprise!”
Di ko na narinig yung mga pinagusapan nila. Wala na kong marinig! I felt like floating! Nananaginip lang ba ako? This is too much to be true! Haaaay… Ano bang nang yayari? Bakit biglang nagiba ata ang direksyon ng ihip ng hangin?
“Uhm, sir?”
“Oh, don’t call me sir! I’ll be your dad soon! So please call me dad from now on.”
“Oh. Sorry. Uhm… Dad? can I have some private dance with Mark?”
“Anak, show a little conservativeness naman.”

“Mark, hindi. Tulungan mo ‘kong ipaunawa sa mga magulang natin na hindi ipinagkakasundo ang pag-ibig.”

We went back to our chairs. I saw a tear from Grace’s eyes. Am I too sefish? I did everything for Grace kahit di nya ko pansin. I want her so bad. At ngayong nandito na sya, why I won’t grab the opportunity? And I mean it, di naman sya talaga mag sisisi. She will learn how to love me, I know that.
Napansin ko na gusto na nyang umuwi, her father noticed it also kaya siguro nag paalam na sila kay dad. Umalis na nga sila. Dad and I also headed to the car. “Please be my bestfriend forever. Please stay by my side forever. Please promise me na may Jenna Shara Villanueva Santiago akong laging malalapitan.”
“Hayy… Mark. Before I say promise to that, may I ask you one thing?”
“Anything.”
“Mhhh… Mark. Nagkakilala tayo nung 3rd year hanggang sa magging mag bestfriend tayo. All in all, almost 6 years na tayong magkakilala. But… I mean, I know your wants, I know your favorites and stuffs… but really…w… what is it that m…makes you happy?”
“I know you know the answer, Jen.”
“I want to hear it from you, then.”
“*Sigh* Malamang. It’s Grace and my diploma.”
