Oliver's pov:

It was nice to sleep in a bed with him, his body heat, and the blankets around us keeping me warm. A few hours into my slumber, I had felt him leave. I knew he had to patrol and I also knew he wouldn't leave me if he didn't have to. He tried so hard not to wake me up I pretended I was still sleeping. I had eventually fallen back to sleep with his pillow snuggled in my arms and the blankets tangled around my legs, but now I was waking up.

I slowly opened my eyes, pushing myself up to a sitting position. There was a small window in the room, and I could see the sunlight filtering through. It wasn't raining anymore, but I knew the air would still be humid and cold because of the harsh downpour earlier. I stood up, remaking the bed as best I good before glancing around the room.

It was so neat, everything organized. There was a plate on the dresser with a few fruits on it, a note delicately placed beside it. I lifted it into my palm. Even his handwriting was beautiful. I sighed softly. Even though it had probably only been an hour or two since I had been with him, I still missed him.

'Some fruit, if your hungry. I suggest going to Nichol's Bakers. She makes the best honey buns. Beware of my sister, or you might be in for some teasing. If anyone gives you trouble, tell me who they are and I will handle the issue. I miss you already   -Apollo'

The note read. I didn't expect the cheesy ending, but I assumed we agreed that our first 'I love yous' would be in person and not through a piece of paper. I smiled, I couldn't help it, as I took a large bite of the apple. The bakery he mentioned sounded interesting and I was quite tempted to head there now.

I wasn't sure I would need money, but the small pouch of coins beneath the note was probably for the sweets. I lifted it up, tucking it into my pocket. I was pretty sure my clothes weren't dry, but I could grab my dagger.

I opened the door to the room, my steps soft against the ground as I headed towards the bathing area. My clothes were hanging on the wall were I had left them and my other supplies were still in their cubby. I strapped the dagger to my thigh, pulling my bow and my quill of arrows onto my back.

I left the inn from there, boots on my feet as I padded down the street. Small humans zipped around, a few adults trailing loosely after them, but I knew most of the adults would be helping with the farms after the storm. One of the smallest ones ran into my leg, but before they fell onto their butt I quickly grabbed their arm, pulling them back up to their feet.

"Are you alright, little one? Your nose isn't hurt, is it?" I asked gently. They shook their head, staring up at me in awe. I think it was a little girl, but it was hard to tell their gender.

"Get away from my child, you fae!" A woman screeched. My eyebrows pulled together in confusion. Her child had run into me, and I was just making sure the little human was okay. I took a few steps back, holding my hands up.

"I apologize. I didn't intend any harm," I said softly, attempting to remain passive.

"Oliver, right? Ignore her, she won't understand that you don't mean any harm," A voice called from somewhere behind me. I turned, my eyes falling on a young human male. he would be a bit younger than me, judging by his appearance. I assume Apollo told the humans of my name and presence, which made sense that he was calling my name.

"Yes, it's Oliver. May I ask your name?" I asked, taking his advice into use and ignoring the female and her child. It was obvious she wasn't going to like me simple because I was fae.

"Aster, I am Apollo's friend! I have known him for my entire life so I just had to meet his mate!" The male said, finally reaching me and hooking his arm with mine.

"You are? That is quite exciting," I replied, letting him lead me down the streets. I was surprised as we entered the doors with a sign hanging above it. "Oh, this is the place on the note Apollo left me," I said softly. Aster smiled, waving at the female behind the counter.

"Apollo loves this place, it's no wonder he wanted you to come here," He said with a smile. "hey mom, this is Apollo's mate, Oliver!" He greeted the woman.

"Oh? Then he can eat for free as well. Apollo is sacrificing a lot of his time to help keep us safe. You two met this morning, right? My name is Nichol, I am bascially Apollo's aunt," she added with a laugh. I could assume she was either Apollo's mother's or father's best friend since she was a human and wouldn't have said basically if she were his actual aunt.

"Ma'am, I have money, I do not need to eat your food for free. It is very nice to meet you though," I added, offering a smile. I could smell something delicious cooking from the kitchen, my tongue flickering across my lips.

"Nonesense, it's free for you to eat here, and you don't have to be so polite, call me Nichol!" She said, waving her hand before she headed towards the kitchen. Aster was giggling at the hints of frustration on my face. I pulled some coins from the small pouch Apollo had left for me, placing them into the area for coins she had. I had paid, and she didn't need to know about it.

"Your mother is an interesting character," I said softly, Aster nodding in agreeement to my words before he dragged me over to a table.

"Have a seat while we wait for the honey buns~"
