Lyra and Harry had both celebrated their sixteenth birthdays with cakes and laughter. Their summer days were filled with happiness and love. It was obvious that the couple were smitten.
All had been perfect until Harry had gone to the Dursleys to collect extra clothing, only to return late in the night, finding Lyra on the sofa playing with the dog. "Hey, you alright?" Harry nodded, "I think I might be expelled." Lyra gasped, sitting Harry down and requesting him to tell her everything. "I went, and saw Dudley. I got angry, and odd storm started, I don't know. We ran into an alley and were attacked by dementors, so I used the patronus charm for self defense." Lyra sighed, "They can't expel you immediately. They'll have you attend a court hearing, then it'll all be determined then. For now, let's head to bed." Harry nodded, following Lyra to her bedroom, the dog in tow.
Later that night, the Order had broken in to collect the teenagers. Lyra not being quick to comply, asked Moody a series of questions, declaring it was him. "Have I been expelled?" Moody shook his head, "Not yet, you haven't been. Dumbledore gave you time, allowing a hearing." Harry turned to Lyra, "A hearing?"
Tonks hugged Lyra, whom she hadn't seen in too long, they were cousins, after all. "Don't worry Harry, we'll explain at the headquarters." Moody scowled at Tonks for mentioning the headquarters. Lyra grinned as she watched her cousin's hair turn red in anger. "Don't call me Nymphadora."
Moody tapped his cane on the pavement twice, everyone's brooms flying into their hands. "Stay in formation, everyone. Don't break ranks if one of us is killed." and with that, the seven of them were off, soaring through the skies of London.
After a smooth landing, Moody revealed the headquarters with a tap of his cane, wary of anyone around.
The teenage couple made there way into the newly formed building, their eyes scanning their surroundings, taking everything in. "There've been no sightings. No deaths. No proof. He almost killed Harry, if that proof isn't enough then-"
"Yes, but guarding you-know-what is the most important!" The teenagers had listened to the hushed conversation, narrowing their eyes at eachother until Moody came pushing past. Lyra's eye caught her uncle, then the man next to him.
Remus Lupin. Lyra grinned, ready to greet him, but before she could move, her view was blocked by Mrs Weasley, hugging the couple, "Thank god you two are alright. Bit peaky, but I'm afraid dinner will wait until after the meeting's finished." Lyra's heart sank, who knows how long this meeting will last? "Mrs Weasley, Remus is in there and I want to say hello." Lyra pleaded, the small woman didn't budge, telling her to wait with a sad smile on her face. "Straight upstairs, first door on the left."
Lyra lead Harry upstairs, their hands connected, knowing her way through the house. The two had stumbled upon Kreacher, mumbling, and made wary eye contact as the couple walked upstairs. Lyra opened the door to a room, imediately being greeted by the hugs of Hermione and Ron. "Are you alright? We overheard them talking about the dementor attack." Harry nodded, pleased to see his other two friends.
Lyra read Harry, knowing he was about to question where they were. "We're at headquarters, Harry. Of the Order of the Phoenix. Dumbledore formed it years ago, when they first fought Voldemort. It's a secret society. I only know about this because my mum was in it." Harry nodded, understanding that his girlfriend couldn't tell him for the sake of her mum. "So you two couldn't put this in a letter? Lyra and I have gone all summer without a scrap of news." Ron looked down in shame, "We wanted to write to you, but Dumbledore made us swear not to tell." Lyra felt Harry grown tense. "Why would he keep me in the dark? Maybe I could help. Lyra and I are the ones who saw Voldemort return, I fought him, we watched Cedric die," Lyra flinched.
Fred and George apparated into the room, not noticing the tension. "Harry. We thought we heard you. Let it out mate, don't bottle it up.
The group of teenagers, including Fred and George, had attempted to listen in on the Order's meeting with a literal ear. Listening to Mrs Weasley and Sirius debate on whether HArry is an adult or a child. The voice of Snape had shocked Harry, "Snape's part of the Order?"
"Hermione! Get your cat away, I don't know, Hugo's in the kitchen, direct it there!" Hermione panicked, and sighed in defeat as Crookshanks chewed on the hearing device, the entire group's mood deflating.
The group walked downstairs to face Mrs Weasley, "We'll be eating in the kitchen." The woman's smile disappeared as her two sons apparated, "Just because you're allowed to use magic doesn't mean you can whip your wands out for everything!"
"Cass! My dear!" Sirius squeezed Lyra in a strong embrace, letting her go. "Harry Potter." the boy hugged his godfather, the smile on Lyra's face growing as she faced Remus. "Remus Lupin, long time no see." She giggled, jumping into the man's arms as he kissed her cheek, letting her go.
Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Arthur Weasley had been at the end of the table, speaking to Harry and Lyra about the bespectacled boy's hearing. "Harry, where were you all summer?" Sirius questioned, his eyes focused on the intertwined hands between the couple. "Lyra and I spent the summer at her house. I don't understand, what does the Ministry have against me?" Moody spoke gruffly, "Show him, he'll find out soon enough."
Kingsley handed the boy a newspaper, the heading printed in bold letters. The boy who lied? "He's been attacking Dumbledore as well. Fudge is using all his power, including his influence at the Daily Prophet to smear anyone who claims the Dark Lord has returned. The Minister thinks Dumbledore is after his job. Fudge isn't in his right mind." Lyra read the newspaper, absolutely fuming.
"This is preposterous! In the muggle world, we'd be able to take legal action and sue the Daily Prophet for defamation and false information!" All the men agreed with the girl, satisfied on her knowledge in muggle and wizard law.
"We think Voldemort wants to build up his army again. Fifteen years ago, he had huge numbers at his command. And not just witches and wizards, but all manner of dark creatures. He's been recruiting heavily and we're attempting to do the same. But gathering followers wasn't his only interest. We believe Voldemort may be after something. Something he didn't have before."
"That's enough! He's just a boy! You say more and you might as well induct him into the Order." Mrs Weasley cried, ripping the newspaper away from Lyra. "Good. I want to join. If Voldemort's raising an army, then I want to fight." Lyra nodded in agreement, Sirius displayed a triumphant smile, winking at Lyra.
Later that night, Lyra and Harry sat awake on the sofa, cuddled up together. "This is the end, isn't it? The end of our peaceful summer. Now everything's going to get dangerous." Harry nodded, "Promise me we'll stay together. No matter what gets in the way. No silly fights." Lyra lifted her head to look up at Harry. "Of course." the boy replied, kissing Lyra softly.
