Lyra watched her friend violently put her books back onto their appropriate shelves, an intense monologue being delivered at the same time.

"He's at perfect liberty to kiss whoever he likes. Was I under the impression he and I would be attending Slughorn's Christmas party? Yes. Now, given the circumstances I've had to make other arrangements."

"Don't tell me." Lyra's eyes were trained on Hermione.

"Cormac." The dual eyed girl groaned, wanting to hit Hermione for her stupid decisions. Out of anyone she picked Cormac? "You and Harry are going together, right?" Lyra nodded.

"See that girl over there? That's Romilda Vane. Apparently she's trying to smuggle your boyfriend a love potion. She's only interested in him because he's the Chosen one." Lyra smiled smugly.

"But Harry is the Chosen one- that's beside the point. If one day he comes up with a dying obsession for her, I won't be mad, I'll just excessively make fun of him." Lyra winked, earning a laugh from Hermione.

The day of Slughorn's Christmas do had come, and Lyra was getting ready in Harry's dorm, scolding the boy as he tried to get sneak peaks while she got herself ready.

"Are you done? You're taking ages!" The boy groaned, watching his girlfriend do her makeup. He stood and wrapped his arms around her waist, hugging her from behind as he kissed her shoulder and neck tenderly. "You don't need the makeup."

"I want to look nice. You like my dress?" Lyra adorned a gorgeous silk baby pink dress, with thin straps and a v neckline, a white coat and white heels to match. "You look stunning, now can we go?" Lyra rolled her eyes at her boyfriend, taking his arm as they walked down to the party.

The couple were immediately greeted by Slughorn, asking for a picture and wishing them a happy Christmas before cheerfully walking away.

"Drink? I didn't get into the Slug Club. It's okay, though. He's got Belby handing out towels in the loo." Lyra smiled at Neville, taking a drink for her and Harry to share.

"Serves Belby right." Neville grinned before walking away, leaving the couple alone. "God, Potter what am I going to do with you?" Lyra giggled as the bespectacled boy pulled her close, catching her in a kiss. "You've got lipstick on yourself!" she proceeded to wipe the pigment off, ignoring the dreamy stares Harry sent her. "Come on." The auburn haired girl pulled him behind the curtain. "Couldn't wait till we got back- Oh Hermione." Harry's face was embarrassed as he saw his friend behind the curtain, smirking at the couple.

"Sorry. I just escaped, I left Cormac under the mistletoe."

"You brought Cormac? Lyra, you knew about this?"

"She thought it would annoy Ron the most. He's got more tentacles than a Snarfalump plant." Lyra grimaced. "Dragon tartare? They give you horrible breath." Lyra politely declined, watching Hermione stuff her face with the food, grimacing even more. "Might keep Cormac at bay." Lyra nodded at her friend, giggling. "Hermione, he's coming, get out!" The bushy haired girl was shoved out just as Cormac McLaggen entered, breathless.

"Hermione isn't here, McLaggen. Get out." Lyra crossed her arms, glaring at the taller boy.

"Slippery little minx, she is, likes to work her mouth too, doesn't she? What am I eating?" Cormac kept eating the disgusting food, avoiding Lyra's eye. "Dragon balls." She smirked, watching as he threw up on Snape's shoes just as the professor entered. "You've just bought yourself a month's detention, McLaggen. Not so quick, Potter. Lexson."

The couple turned around, slightly annoyed at their bad attempt at escaping the professor. "Sir, Lyra and I might go eat-"

"You can surely survive for another minute or two without food, Mr Potter. Besides, I only wish to convey a message."
