Lyra Lexson and Harry Potter stood in the boy's dorm, packing their belongings into their trunks.

The gloomy weather outside had matched their moods, the death of Sirius Black bringing a wave of grief.

With their trunks closed, Lyra made her way over to the bespectacled boy, allowing him to embrace her as she clung onto his shirt. They stood there, wrapped in eachother's arms, a small sense of comfort in the atmosphere.

A knock on the door was heard as the two pulled away ever so slightly, arms still intertwined. In the doorway stood Albus Dumbledore, beckoning them to join him in his office.

The three sat, the hand of Harry Potter wrapped around his girlfriend's small frame. She'd hardly eaten, less than normal which wasn't very much initially, or slept since the death of her uncle. "I know ow you feel."

"With all do respect, sir, you don't. It's my fault. I should've led Bellatrix away. I should've seen this coming." Lyra's lips quivered as she spoke, tears threatening to fall.

"No, Lyra. The fault is mine. I knew it was only a matter of time before Voldemort made the connection between him and Harry. I thought by distancing myself from you, as I have done all year he'd be less tempted, and therefore you might be more protected."

"The prophecy said Neither one can live while the other one survives. It means one of us is gonna have to kill the other, in the end." Lyra looked up at Harry as he spoke, the fear in his eyes was evident. "Yes."

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"For the same reason you tried to save Sirius. The same reason your friends saved you. After all these years, after all you've suffered, I didn't want to cause anymore pain. I cared too much about you. Now I do hope that you and Lyra are able to grieve together in peace." And with that, the pair walked out of the office, hand in hand.

Lyra had spotted Luna in one of the corridors, having not spoken to her since the day at the Ministry, she decided it was time. "How come you're not at the Ministry, Luna?"

Luna turned around, a smile of sympathy on her face. "I lose all of my possessions. Apparently people have been hiding them. But it's all good fun. Although, it's the last night and I do need them back."

"Do you need help finding them, love?" Lyra wanted the girl to say yes, but felt a tad bit relieved when Luna said no. "I'm sorry about Sirius, both of you." Lyra nodded, hugging the blonde, feeling a small sense of attachment to the girl. "I'll miss you, Luna. I hope you find your things."

"My mum always said, the things we lose find a way of coming back to us in the end," The trio's eyes found a pair of shoes dangling from the archway, "If not always in the ways we expect. i think I'll go have some pudding." The couple watched the girl skip away.

The Golden Quartet walked towards the gates, the chatter around them blaring in their ears. "I've been thinking about something Dumbledore said to us. Even though we've got a fight ahead of us, we've got one thing Voldemort doesn't have."

"A nose?" Lyra giggled slightly, the trio burst into a faint laughter, the first one since the day at the Ministry. "Yes, and also something worth fighting for."
