Faye's POV

"What?"

"A mint" she said simply, holding up a tin of mints.

"Yeah, I heard you...just, why a mint?" He laugher lightly, cocking his head.

"Well...when i'm upset I have a mint," she told him, twisting her hands, "so, I thought that you'd appreciate it but if it's stupid it doesn't matter you don't need to-"

"Yes please" he interrupted her, his tone a lot softer.

"Okay..." she nodded, sitting next to him and opening the tin, extending her hand so he can grab one, which he did.

They sat in silence as Faye sucked her own mint, it was a vast contrast to the irate situation moments before. She stared straight ahead at the houses across the street, sure they'd call the police at any moment simply for the noise alone.

"I'm sorry" she heard a mumble from besides her.

"Huh?" She questioned looking at the boy.

"I'm sorry, I was a bit...mean, for no reason" he told her, licking his lips with a guilty look, his eyes were definitely calmer now.

"It's okay, everybody gets emotional; you shouldn't have to deal with it alone" she told him, leaning to knock his shoulder lightly with a giggle.

"You shouldn't have to deal with it at all, it's my problem, i'll get over it" he sighed, leaning back in his hands, crossing his legs.

"Everybody need's a bit of help" she countered, not looking at him.

"Yeah...I guess" she heard him mumble.

"Look" he spoke after a few minutes, "we should start again"

"Yeah?"

"Yeah" he confirmed, sticking his hand out, "i'm Josh" she turned towards him, giggling slightly.

"Hello Josh, i'm Faye" she grabbed his hand, feeling a tingle run up her arm, "it's nice to met you"

"You too" he laughed not letting go of her hand.

Faye stared into the boys eyes, the grey that was thundering only moments before seemed softer, the calm after the storm rather than before, however Faye got the sense that they could switch at any moment.

His jaw was more relaxed than it had been, yet still tensed up as he sucked on the mint, she could see the outline of his tongue moving as he swished the mint from one side of his mouth to the other.

And, as she studied him he studied her tight back, he noticed her sparkling green eyes as the dim streetlight eliminated her features. He noticed every freckle on her cheeks and every spec in her eye, noting them in his mind to be able to recount them later.

"Where did you move from?" He questioned, leaning back on his hands and sighing, still looking at the beautiful girl.

"Canada," she replied shortly, turning her body so that her legs, which were pulled up to her chest, angled towards him.

"Really?" His face lit up, "no way! Me too" he laughed as her face did the same.

"What a crazy coincidence" she told him, smiling still, she couldn't take her eyes off of him, no matter how crazy she looked.

"Yeah" he mused, trailing off obviously not knowing what to say.

"We should go back to the party" she told him, standing up. Admittedly, she would rather go back to her room, curl up in her covers and sleep than go back to the party, however she assumed Josh would rather go back inside.

"Yeah...I guess" he mumbled, not moving, just staring up at her, "I might stay out here for a while"

"Oh, yeah that's good too" she said, moving to sit back down next to him.

"No!" He spoke loudly, not quite shouting, "i mean...no" he said softer after seeing her shocked face.

"You go back inside...don't let me ruin your night" he told her, running his hand through his hair.

"No...you're not"

"Just...go back to the party like you wanted to" he told her.

"Actually..." she bit her lip, "I'd rather go home and sleep" he laughed as she spoke, shaking his head.

"Go, I won't tell anybody" he joked, watching her laugh.

She stood up slowly, reluctant to leave the interesting boy but glad that he had calmed down.

"Are you sure?"

"Go sleep" he told her, smiling lightly but genuinely.

"Okay..." she mumbled, walking backwards towards her own house, "goodbye Josh"

"Goodbye, Faye" he told her, his voice wistful.

And so she waked away, trying her best to suppress the smile that was slowly growing on her face. Faye closed her bedroom door, pressing her back to it and throwing her head back as she couldn't stop the smile anymore.

Why couldn't she stop smiling?

This was a boy that had almost hit her, obviously accidentally, had shouted at her and kicked a lamp. But, this was also the boy that had looked at her so dreamily and had showed his soft side.

Faye dropped her phone onto her bed and kicked off her heels as she inched towards the window, pulling the curtain to the side so she could peak through it, expecting to see Josh sat on the curb.

However, she didn't. Instead, she saw Josh stood and looking up at her, it was obvious he could see Faye when he smiled, waving slightly a the girl. This time, she didn't jump back, she smiled back, laughing as she repeated his action.

Maybe LA wouldn't be that bad.
